Subject: For my fellow Californians...

Anyone remember or still frequent Fosters Freeze?  We stopped there today on our way home, and man, their hamburgers are goooooooooood! I also had a chocolate shake, which was deliciously awesome and made a great dipping sauce for my fries. It's a bit on the expensive side, but I'd go back again. I forgot how great their food was.

Haven't been to a Fosters in a long time, maybe the mid-90s.  Been going to the one in Vallejo on Tennessee St. since high school.  It's been closed for some time.  I don't recall anything about the burgers but the shakes are hard to forget..!

I haven't been to Foster's Freeze in a long time. their Frostie ice cream cones are legendary and they still deep fry corn dogs too.  there's one in Pinole, and in the summer they have a night where people show up in their old roadsters and restored classic cars.  you probably know this, but there is one in Danville, and i really  need to stop there on the way home.  :)

I forgot about the one in Pinole.  Maybe the people are nicer there.  One of the last times I visited the Vallejo Fosters, before it closed, I was nearly in a fight with another customer.  Bummer...

We stopped at the one in Gilroy. The people were nice, it was just a bit run down inside.

Hell, I had no idea they still existed up until yesterday. I thought the corporates had managed to run them all out of California. :P

I know they hooked up with El Pollo Loco's out here. But I haven't had a REAL Foster's Freeze in years.

I cant see the images anymore, I shouldn't have hotlinked  ::)  those frostie cones are the best. They have vanila, or chocolate, and my personal favorite, the twist, which has both flavors and you can have them dipped in chocolate too  :)

I stopped at the one in Danville today and ordered 1 old-fashioned burger w/cheese, fries and a diet coke. I ate it while standing at the outside counter in the shade and it was really good. plus eating outside gave it a nostalgic feel. next time I will get a soft serve frostie ice cream cone.

I was passing through Danville and just happened to be going by the Foster's Freeze and since I hadn't had anything to eat all day, I stopped and got a crunchy corn dog and fries and it was perfect, dang it was good! this little girl was eyeballing every french fry I ate  ;D  she must have been hungry, but her mom bought her and 3 other kids ice cream cones so at least she had that. next time I'm getting a twist or 1/2 & 1/2 vanilla-chocolate cone

I think there's one in Martinez, and we've stopped there a couple of times on some hot days. There's also one in Antioch which is very close to a Dairy Queen. Maybe if I'm near one, I will try and get a pic. I think also many Foster Freeze have merged with El Pollo Loco. I may be wrong about that, but I'll have to Wiki it.
