Subject: Favorite Carnival/Amusement Park Food

Written By: cinnabon on 08/28/08 at 9:30 pm

My favorite carnival food is caramel corn by all means; kettle corn is pretty good too, that's where popcorn is blended with a sugar coating - other favorites include pizza and ice cream of course.  For other I have heard that some fairs sell deep fried candy bars, which I've never had but they look sooo good!

I love those apples that are dipped in fudge and then rolled in candy...they are way TOO good.

I also like the homemade cheese fries that they have at our local amusement park.

Pogos (aka Corndog)

I used to love to get homemade poutine from amusement parks, but they never seem to get the right kind of cheese

Funnel Cakes, French Fries (with Vinegar), and these little steak sandwiches (I don't know why they taste SO good from the fair, but they do!)

I loved eating popcorn, ice cream, sno cones, and fried bread at carnivals/state fairs. It's been so long; I haven't been to a carnival or fair since the 11th grade.  :(

Corn dogs, french fries (only if they're garlic fries), and other: elephant ears and Indian Fry bread, but only when it's topped off like a taco.

As a kid I just loved Candy Apples, so that got my vote. In England we call them Toffee Apples.

Elephant Ears???

Yeah, we got one once at the fair a bazillion years ago.  They are kinda like funnel cakes but instead of them dripping the batter into the hot oil to make little...pieces you can break off...these are just one huge piece of fried batter...looks like a real elephant ear.

Funnel cakes somewhat resemble the foods known as fried dough or "elephant ears," but dough products are made with a risen yeast dough, whereas funnel cakes are made with an unleavened batter; (Thank you Wikipedia)  ;D

I saw this and fell down laughing. I'm a lying sack of sheesh. I can eat an ENTIRE Bloomin Onion. To be honest, I'm a study in gluttony at the Fair.
In one evening I had:

--A full Bloomin Onion
--A lamb gryo
--3 slushies
--1 Strawberry daquiri
--Half a funnel cake
--an Italian sausage
--And pork on a stick.
I spend more on food than rides. And I have a saying "Never eat at the fair what you can eat at home" .No pizza, burgers corndogs, etc, for me. I just remember once I got MAD when I saw a woman buy a SALAD at the fair. a SALAD. you're in the fried food Meccas, but you get a SALAD!  :( She paid 9 dollars for something she could have spent half on at the grocery store. I noshed on ribbon fries and laughed.

Sausage/Bratwurst with onions and peppers, or steak pattie with onions and peppers.  I don't know why I don't eat them very often unless at the fair (which coincidently, I haven't been to in about 14 years).  I really should make them at home.  Now I'm hungry  ;D

It depends on what period of my life.  I would currently go for the ice cream so that's what I picked (guess I would also choose coffee and elephant ears/beaver tails).  As a kid though, I would go ape shight for cotton candy and snow cones.
