Subject: What are you making for dinner(supper) tonight?

Written By: Tam on 11/09/08 at 3:22 pm

I always think that I know exactly what I am going to make, but then when the time comes, I forget to take something out of the freezer or I just decide that I don't feel like cooking at all. A lot of times we have ended up fending for ourselves, which doesn't do much for the family unit, because we then eat at our own times and there is no conversation.

Anyway, tonight I was going to make quesadillas, but of course I forgot to take the tortillas out of the freezer, as well as the ground turkey!

What are you making tonight?

I'm going to make pineapple mango chicken and some cilantro lime rice, if I can clean my kitchen before then.  Too much crap on the counters. :D

I've already decided I'm having cereal tonight.
Because a bowl and spoon is easier to wash than a pan and/or pot (probably two), a plate, a fork, a knife
I really need to do dishes.  ;D

We went out.  I had shrimp scampi over garlic bread, Sig had mini pizza and salad

I went ahead ad made something....

We had steamed sticky rice with meatballs and gravy, cheese and sour cream. My own makeshift stroganoff I suppose.
I think I am making stew tomorrow night - so long as I remember to take the stewing beef out of the freezer! ;)

We had breakfast for dinner.  It started out as a way to eat up some bacon but we found the bacon had gone off  :-[  Anyway we made pancakes, fried potatoes with onion and pepper, scrambled egg, grilled tomato and breakfast sausages.  It was yummy

Casey's Taco Pizza- Yes I made it, I had to call in the order, pick it up and pay for it.

Tomorrow - Blackened Ribeye steaks

Tuesday - Pork Chops with Stuffing Bake

The rest of the week, depending on how I make them

Meatloaf

Peppers, Italian Sausage and Bowtie Pasta

Smothered Chicken

Yep, I got it all planned out :)

Ergh.  The mangoes weren't fully ripened, so it looks like it's just going to be pineapple chicken and rice.

What vege meals do you all eat?  Some friends might be coming to stop next weekend and one of them is a vegetarian.  I never like cooking a separate meal for them but I'm not sure what my daughter would eat.

I have found a lot of great vegetarian recipes online. One that is simple and is usually favored by lots of people is a simple cheese lasagna, or veggie lasagna.  Here are some links to a few recipes:

Easy "go to" meal to make, my husband and children love it - especially with garlic butter or alfredo noodles

Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts (how ever many you want to make)
Garlic Salt
1-2 Green, Red, Yellow, or Orange Peppers chopped
1/2 - 1 onion chopped
olive oil
mozzerella cheese

Saute peppers and onions in a pan with olive oil, till softened (may also use mushrooms in this step).  Sprinkle onion salt on both sides of Chicken Breasts, place into a baking sprayed baking pan (9x9 or 9x13 - depending on how many).  Cover each breast with pepper and onion mixture. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes - take foil off and cover all with mozzerella - bake an additional 10-15 minutes.  Take out and serve.... Very yummy

I was imagining chicken smothered in gravy

ever since I saw your planned out menu, I've wanted pork chops. so i stopped at Costco on the way home from work and bought some real beauties but I only did the Shake and Bake thing with mine, but they came out delicious and tender & moist. they are at least an inch to an inch & a half thick.

To go with it I am making some paprika/parsley little roasted potatoes and I am questionable as to the vegetable????  Any ideas, do not have asparagus or I would make it - so I am thinking corn or broccoli

I have a Toastmaster QuickCooker Ultravection Oven that I have plugged into an electrical socket and placed on table in my apartment. My mom gave it to me 5 years ago when I moved into my current apartment because I don't have an oven. But I do have a microwave and a hot plate with two burners.  I didn't use the Toastmaster QuickCooker Ultravection Oven my mom gave me right away because I was using a George Foreman Grill and also a Convection OVen but I don't recall what brand it was.  I threw that away because it was old and my mom told me that the Toastmaster QuickCooker Ultravection Oven would make meat that was more tasty than the George Foreman Grill or my old convection oven.... and she was right!

Tonight I will be using my Toastmaster QuickCooker Ultravection Oven to make 2 hamburgers. I will place those burgers on buns I warmed in my Goldstar Microwave and I will place them on a plate and eat them after pouring A1 steak sauce on them.... I am also treating myself to a mountain Dew.

I also thought smothered was like smothered pork chops. Fired and then smothered in onion gravy..... yummy but bad for the waistline.
Speaking of which I am making fried chicken, yellow rice, and a green veg to balance out.

Hearty chicken soup, with chorizo, salchichon(it's a type of sausage, so good inside soups!), noodles, mashed plantains and lots of spices and flavorings. Sooo good!

I have no natural clue really. My friend wants to go out someplace  before the season/series finale of our show, but every time I ask her WHERE, she doesn't know. I'll fix something like a hot pocket just in case she still don't know. I got up guzzling an energy drink so that cut my appetite anyway. LOL.

Depends on if my mom is home. If she is then breakfast food or lasagna likely. But if not I'll probably pop s frozen pizza in the oven or if I feel like cooking, tuna macaroni. Note I can cook some stuff but my mom makes it so much better. I'm more into making desserts. In fact, either tonight or tomorrow, likely tomorrow as I will be tired from work, I'm making another cake.

I could go for a breakfast buffet.

Hehe, so could I. ;)  In fact, I've done that many a time, most recently last May on the cruise ship; on one of the upper decks they have a Horizon Court, which is a buffet eatery for whatever meal, depending on time of day.
