Subject: Chicago Dog

There's one quote for these Hot Dogs....Hold the Ketchup.

Because that's NOT on a Chicago Dog, but here's what you'll need....

   * Steamed poppy seed hot dog bun
   * All beef hot dog (steamed) (preferably Vienna Beef)
   * Yellow mustard
   * Chopped white onion (raw)
   * Neon green relish
   * Sport peppers
   * Tomato wedges
   * Crisp kosher dill pickle spear
   * Dash of celery salt

I tried it like this (In a poor-man's way) and since I'm not much of a Chicagoan...I called it A Subway version of a Hot Dog (All veggies, not much meat).

They come from the Tabasco Family

I would use pepperoncini as a substitute.

pepperoncini are good but I never had them on a dog, but I love jalapenos on a dog
I don't care for relish but I've seen some mustard based pickle relishes that look pretty darn good.

this thread makes me crave a good hot dog  ::)

In the food court of the Deptford Mall in Deptford, NJ is a hot dog place, I don't remember the name of the place
but if I am in the Mall I make sure to stop and get 2 Chicago Classics. When I'm home I try to make my own but it's
just not the same.

They are GOOD.  And I swear to God if you ask for ketchup, I will cut you.
