Subject: La Choy Chinese food

Written By: basscatfrank on 07/13/12 at 5:46 pm

I don't know why but the La Choy Chinese food that came in two cans just popped into my mind. I haven't seen it in years. I googled it and found out thay still make it but none of my local markets carry it. Does anybody else remember this or even still eat it?

What a blast from the past! We used to chow down on that sh*t.  If it's still around honest to god, I haven't taken notice of it...

Tried one of those in the '90s, must not have liked it, didn't buy any more.  :-\\

I'm sure I've seen them in Pittsburgh grocery stores.  We love our convenience foods chock full of sodium.  I know I do.  ;D

Every great once-in-a-while, I'll get a can of their Chinese vegetables and mix it in with some microwave rice.  Haven't done that in awhile.  My kitchen has no counter space and always has two cats underfoot and usually a husband wanting me to move out of his way.  Needless to say, I don't spend alot of time in the kitchen (unless I'm grazing, like today  :-[ :( )

I'll have to look next time I'm at the store to confirm that they still sell it here.  Just recently I finally found pancake batter in a can. (the subject of another thread here)

I remember it from the 70s. It was called the bi-pack. The top can had the sauce and meat (chicken, pork, or seafood) and the bottom had the vegetables. My mom always made rice in which it was served over.
