Subject: the trouble with trains today pt.1

Written By: jamminoldies on 01/16/02 at 08:38 p.m.

I got some more pet peeves and see if you agree with me:

-When it's morning rush hour and it's just too damn crowded and people think that they can fit in when the conductor keeps on moving the door in and out just to try to see if there any more people coming. If you can't fit,go on the next train.stupid population! >:(

When you're sitting trying to read a book or newspaper, people just swing their big coats and big baggage in your face and don't say"SORRY".that's what happened to me once. >:(

OR how about trying to conduct a"sneeze and cough"symphony? this is where one person starts coughing, the other person sneezes, the other clears his/her throat, the other"ahems"a lot. Then I go:

"choo,choo,choo,choo,wheeze,wheeze,wheeze,wheeze,cough,cough,cough"!  ;D

I need to ride more trains apparently; I'm missing out on some good concerts. :) I need to go back to D.C. so I can ride around on the metrolines.  I never had much of a problem with trains, though I did have a really bad experience one 4th of July.  The trains were all crowded from the celebration by the Washington Monument, and I had an terrible migraine...  that's wasn't much fun.

The problem I have with the commuter train I travel on is people with bikes. They cram in 3or 4 bikes by the doors and then everyone is trapped until the owners get off.

LOL! Can I get an "A-HEM" in the place?!   ;) *choo*,*choo*,*choo*,*choo-ahem*... (to "Duke of Earl")

reminds me of the VW commercial...windshield wipers & all...

It wouldn't bother me much as long as the sneezing, wheezing & coughing isn't in my face.  And I think it'd be neat to see a group of people together performing such a tune with a conductor in front of them with their wand...

Big Picture though, JO, I hope the morning train ride is only a miniscule part of your daily life and doesn't ruin the rest of your day.   :)

You're welcome JO.  I was just up in NYC and the subways weren't bad at all I thought.  I didn't hear any sneeze & cough symphonies, just a blind guy playing his accordian trying to make a few dollars.  I guess if he could see he could see the sign that prohibits panhandling on the subway...

No, mostly the N and 7.  And the 1 down to Lincoln to Vinylmania.  Went crazy in that store.

The accordian dude was on the N to Queens.  Sounded Italian...

I used to take the 7 train back to Queens.
I find the 7 train uncomfortable.
the seats are in a straight line.I don't like that.
I like the F where the seats are across then there are 2 seats right next to.I have a problem with people staring oin the 7 train.

Around here, bicycles are banned from the commuter trains (to and from the suburbs) during "rush" hour.  Other times they used to require you to have a special permit.  The idea was that if you screwed up, they could ban your bike for life.  They've done away with the permit system, but I hope they are still limiting the bikes to non-rush hours.  They have always been banned from the subway system, but I'm not sure if they still are.

And for some reason they have added bike racks to the city busses.  Possibly to keep bike riders safe from our infamously bad drivers.

Be glad you weren't on the bus with me the other day.  Two very, very, smelly people got on the bus.  :o Really, really, smelly. "Gag me with a spoon" smelly.  Everyone was coughing, wheezing, and snuffling, and many of us had eyes watering. Even though it was freezing, everyone opened the nearest window.  Many people were trying to filter the stink out by breathing through scarves or mittens.  :-X  :-X Several people got off the bus and decided to walk.

So, why couldn't the bus driver tell Stinky Pete and his buddy to get off the bus?  :PWouldn't this count as a Public Health Hazzard?

Talk about stinky, smelly people. How about during the summer of 2001 when the temperature hit 103 degrees. The F train conductor said there is no air conditioner at this time so I sweated bullets and everyone started cramming themselves in trying to get cool but it was crammed enough for me to smell armpits and loads of body odor.I could'nt breathe. My back, front, head, arms were just wet.I was absolutely dying.Summer on the train is the worst time to have the stinky, smelly people! :P :P ;D

I hate those shmucks who carry their bikes on the train and inconvience people. They sit there with the bike laying to one side and people have to get on and off. That pisses me off.what do they have to do?walk around the bike?what happens if you trip?do you sue him with nthe bike or do you sue MTA?

Not quite sure.  If the guy has the aforementioned "bike permit" I guess you sue the bike owner. Althouh it wouldn't hurt to try to sue both. A report to the MBTA is usually in order anyway, so they can revoke his permit.

Otherwise, if the bikes are forbidden from the system you definitely sue the MBTA for "creating a public hazard".
