Subject: Dang It! Lakers Sweep

Written By: Indy Gent on 04/29/02 at 01:16 a.m.

I think it's time to end this Laker dynasty once and for all before they win all the titles in this decade. Does anyone have any idea how they can stop Shaq now that his free throw percentage has improved. I still haven't forgotten Game 4 with the Pacers when Shaq and Kobe got away with murder thanks to the Laker loving refs and NBA. And I hope it's not Dallas that ends it either because I loathe all professional teams from Dallas, except the Rangers which is from Arlington,TX so they don't count. I don't think anyone from the Eastern Conference can stand toe to toe with them, so it has to come from within the West.
Go anyone but the Lakers or Mavs!

Go Lakers! :)  Though I prefer it when Magic, Worthy, Scott, Rambis, Kareem, and Green were the key players...

Go Nuggets!  Oh wait >:( :D I am rooting for the Spurs because I think Tim Duncan and his team-mates are classy AND of course for being a former American Basketball Association franchise  ;)

Yeah same here I don't like the Lakers.  Ya know, its funny, I really didn't care about them 'til I lived in CA for 5 months.  I wanted the 76ers to win so bad last season.
On the positive side the Pistons are up 2-1.  And the Red Wings got to the second round with a great come back ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I despise the Lakers, but I'm from San Antonio and Shaq (though he grew up here) has had a few choice things to say about our city and our Spurs. Looks like the Mavs and Kings will go head to head in Round 2. I would prefer the Kings to win. I think they really have a shot (if they can get past Steve Nash and his wild three's). All in all, I would LOVE to see the Spurs win again. RnRF is right...they have class. If only class could wina game..... To answer JC's original question though...I think the Lakers will bring down themselves. They almost fell apart when Shaq and Kobe had their little "look at me! look at me!" spat. Shaq just has size, not "real" skills like Kobe. As for the East, who knows? I think Detroit has a shot (but a very slim one). Either way, the West will probably win again.

***The way I feel about the Lakers is how I felt when Phil J. coached the Bulls. I wondered if there would ever be a real challenge. Remember, though, Game 3 was a close one for the Lakers. I wouldn't be surprised if they were kind of "iffy" throughout Round 2.

GO SPURS GO! GO SPURS GO! GO SPURS GO! GO SPURS GO! GO SPURS GO! GO SPURS GO!

Gotta go for my Hornets. I also hope the Nets and Kings win their series. Predictions: (as long as the refs don't give the Lakers the trip to the finals >:() Kings over Hornets, 4-2.

Go LAKERS! Diehard fan since I was four yrs. old, through thick and thin. Purple and Gold Pride till the day I die! I had so much respect for the Spurs prior to last years debacle against the Lakers. It really proves the point that the Spurs championship in 1999 was nothing more than a fluke.

Every year Portland think they can beat the Lakers in the playoffs. It's getting old.

Sorry LAKER HATERS, the Lakers are on their way to another to another title!  :P

I tire of Portland as well, good luck to your team and let's enjoy the rest of the playoffs.  I'm SO happy that Putah is OUT! ;D

My Portland Trailblazers really blue it this time up by Four with 20 seconds left. Unbelievable.  Every year my former boss and I have a Bet, every year I loose.  I got him a shaq Jerzee Last year, wonder what I'll have to buy him this year.
I may hate the lakers, but the better team definately won...

And I'm sorry for the Laker fans that have to deal with non-fans pillaging the streets and wrecking their cars after they win another title.  :D
Good luck to whomever, but I hope the Lakers don't win it this year.

Well, looks like Tim Duncan is out for Game 4 along with Robinson. ÊSonics may take this one, but Spurs will get the series. ÊI have to agree with Junior, though. ÊKings look like they could claim the conference championship (at least I hope...they NEED to beat the Mavs for my sanity's sake). ÊI think Charlotte or Boston will prevail in the East. ÊAlthough I am a die hard Spurs fan, I know when it will be a rough run...and this is it.

JC...LOL!!! ÊLakers fans will have to buy their third car in three years. *EDIT:  That is IF they win....Ê
GO SPURS GO!!!!! (I still have the car I drove to the '99 playoffs!) :)

I still hold out hope for the Pacers in tonight's game, but they probably blew the series when they lost Friday. Still, I'd give Zeke one more half-year at the most, then goodbye Coach Thomas. Go Pacers! 8)

Well since the Pistons will probaly lose in the first round like they usually do, I'll be rooting for either the Pacers or 76ers.  Isiah Thomas was the man and Reggie is great.  I think the Pacers can get the Lakers if they had a stronger center.  I think the Pistons could stop the Lakers, but I don't think they'll make it that far.

And, sorry Sagnastian, I hope the Pistons do lose in the playoffs before the Pacers do because it gives us hope that we made the right choice in Thomas over the Pistons' Rick Carlisle, who many believe should have been our coach because he was the Pacers assistant under Larry Bird.

Well, Pacers lose tonight in OT and the Pistons won. So, congrats to coach Rick Carlisle, the Pistons and Sagnastian on advancing past the first round. I'll be somewhere downtown yelling "Dump Isiah" at a Fever game. :(

Wow, the Pistons surprised me, they actually made it to the second round afterall ;D  Well so much for the Pacers, they're out.  And well looks like the Pistons are gonna play the winner between the Celtics/76ers.  I would rather play Boston, I think they're a much easier team to beat.

Now I'm gonna have to root for the Nets to win the Eastern Conference. Nothing against Detroit or Boston (Scratch that, I hate the Celtics), but you've got to root for the team that beats your own team. Go Nets. And I'm still rooting against the Takers ;D.

I think Dallas may be able to stop the Lakers in the west.  It gonna be hard for any team though.  But there is a way, put your best guard/forward on Bryant and keep Shaq away from the rim.  Shaq is no good outside the paint.  Plain and simple.  I don't think there's a guy left in the NBA can can stop Shaw honestly.  Shaq is slow just have to get around him.  And once again, keep Shaq outside the paint.

Man I should be a NBA head/assistant coach ;)

Wow....not one but  TWO blowouts last night....I'm inspired to play some good basketball today...from 9:30-1:00, I can only hope I don't twist an ankle!  The next round should be pretty exciting!  There are still 2 former American Basketball Association teams left  ;)  Who knows, maybe it'll be the Nets vs the Spurs and they could use the good old Red, White and Blue ABA basketball....okay, I'm awake now!

Well it's the Spurs/Lakers once again.  God I hope the Spurs get their revenge on the Lakers freom last season.  And looks like the Pistons play the Celtics.  I predict 4-2 win for Detroit. ;D ::) ;D ::) :P :) :D ;) ::) ;D

Speaking of Shaft...Burger King has a commercial using the Shaft theme "Shaq!"...lame. ÊGo Spurs!

I almost forgot.  Last night before the game, one of our local SA tv stations did a Spurs pregame show.  It had highlights from the last two years.  I had forgotten some of them. Anyone remeber when Shaq referred to the Spurs as a WNBA team on Letterman.  I thought that was crappy but I loved the payback when David Robinson snubbed Phil Jackson's handshake at the All Star Game.  (TWO can play at your game Shaq...)

All I can say is I hope not. Three Lakers titles would be terrible, and two Boston champions in the same year even worse.(The Patriots are technically a Boston area team even though they are called New England Patriots.) Go Nets and Kings!  ;D
