Subject: Bad Food Combinations

Written By: Indy Gent on 05/04/02 at 08:39 p.m.

I posted this thread on 2000's instead of Playful Penguin Place is because of the problems getting into PPP. When my dad was making dinner last night, he absent-mindedly mixed about a half a bag of "Sweet 'n' Low" with the potato mix and I nearly gagged. What other bad food combinations can you think of? Please no gross stuff like boogers or poop. :P

Bad on purpose? Or bad by accident?

One of the fellas I work with has to use Sweet 'N' Low or Equal for medical reasons.  As you know they usually come in small packets.  After accidentally dropping the empty packet in his Sanka too many times, he went out and got a shaker (like the sugar shakers you see in restaurants).

Unfortunately, he got distracted one morning and grabbed the incredibly similar-looking salt shaker. Bleeech!! :-X :-X :-X

Another fella I work with puts barbecue sauce on everything.  Even Chinese noodles, salad (including potato salad), and all his sandwiches.  At least he doesn't put any in his cereal. ;D

ketsup (or catsup)!!  My hubby and all his family uses the stuff on EVERYTHING!!!!!!  I mean from breakfast food to dinner food....the first time I cooked for my hubby (while he was still my b-friend)  I cooked fried porkchops, mashed potatos, corn on the cob, biscuits and gravy.. I serve it up...he looks at his plate and goes "got any ketsup?"  I about DIED!!  I thought, well he knows I am no cook...but since I have learned!!!  Even the waitresses at our local mexican food establishment knows now to bring his enchiladas with a side of the red stuff....but sometimes it gets down right embarrassing!!!!!!!!!!!

Because Americans like them that way.  I, for one, don't like pickles on my hamburgers.  (Maybe Aussies don't put pickles on their hamburgers?  Like, they put beetroot on them or something.  ;D)

As I recover from laughing out loud, I remembered a friend once ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and then ordered hot chocolate for a drink. Nothing out of the ordinary, I suppose.
Then she dipped it in the hot chocolate as she ate it.  :o
That's nothing. Toast with mayonnaise dipped in coffee is another favorite.  :P

Yeah, J.C., you actually reminded me of my dad's peanut butter and pickle sandwiches.  He also puts butter on his hot dog buns etc.  I was making a hot dog the other day and he's like "You don't want butter on your bun?"  I'm like, "Umm, Dad.."

My mom.. she takes lettuce, Ritz or town house crackers, Miracle Whip, bananas, shredded cheese, salad dressing, and tops it with peanut buttet and eats it like a REAL SALAD..  :P :P :P

Well, I dip my french fries into my chocolate milkshake whenever I eat fast food. It might sound gross to some people, but I love the taste of it! As a matter of fact, didn't Ore-Ida put out chocolate flavored french fries?

On the money Jessica!  I also eat my Mickey D's fries with a chocolate shake.  I just thought I was weird (I don't dip them, but I eat a handful and then drink the shake....I think it is the salty/sweet combo).  Yes, Ore-Ida did introduce choco-fries...I don't think I'll be in line to try them, though.

Okay...my mom eats weird foods.  Sometimes we go to Luby's and she orders liver & onions, yams, and fried okra.  Seperately, I like these foods, but I gross out when she orders it all on the same plate.  She also eats her spinach with sweet pickle juice on it and her fish with Karo syrup (I ate the syrup when I was a kid but not anymore).

Okay, my one weird combo - peanut butter and banana sandwiches, on toasted bread. Of course with a milk chaser.

I thought of another weird food combination that I eat, but it's not really gross: I mix peanut butter with my chocolate ice cream. Yummy!
