I saw a trailer for the movie. And IMHO it was stupid. Why couldn't they just hire a Great Dane or another dog? But the actor that plays Shaggy (Matthew Lillard, I believe) has Casey Kasem's Shaggy down pat. SMG was a miscasting, sorry fans. ::)

IMO, the trailer looked pretty stupid, so I don't know if I want to see it.

I agree...I think Matthew Lillard sounds darn near identical to Shaggy..I think he will be better than I had imagined.  I think "Scooby" looks alright...I guess they didn't want to get a real dog and try and pull off the whole "Cats and Dogs" voice thing.
As for Daphne and Fred....all I can say is ick.  I personally don't think either of them were great choices, and I just can't see them in those roles.  However, with two kids that are already talking about it, well, I'm sure we'll see it.  Oh well, it might be cute.  :)

Scooby's so fake looking! One can definitely tell it's a CGI character. They would've been better-off just pasting the actual cartoon of Scooby and pulled a "Mary Poppins" instead (there were cartoon characters in this live action movie).

Even my boys who love Scooby Doo think that this movie is gonna be stupid! So I guess I won't have to waste my money on taking them to see it. On the other hand, my youngest is driving me crazy to go see "Spiderman"!!

I guess I should be warned by the "Stay away from this movie, hand over nose, eyes closed, mouth tightly shut" messages shown in this thread. A true and sincere thanks to you all for WARNING me of an awful movie before I see it, as never is normally the case.

I actually dont see movies in the theater much.  I wait until they are on TBS or something (which is in about 8 years) so if I dont like it, I never wasted my money on it.  ;)

Hehe.

I'll see Scooby Doo once it comes to the $1.50 movie theaters. :)

I've also heard that Spider-Man sucks.

I would see Star Wars II, but it's supposed to be more of a romance than an action/adventure type movie.

Austin Powers in Goldmember, MIIB (Men In Black II), and Undercover Brother are all movies I want to see.

Stuart Little 2, Triple X, Like Mike, Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course, Country Bears, and Mr Deeds are all movies of possible interest.

It wasn't bad.  My husband wanted to go on the day it came out, so we all went.  He and the kids really liked it.  I thought it was okay.  But, Kirsten Dunst was annoying the heck out of me for some reason!  The rest of it was okay--but I wasn't that familiar with the story, so I wasn't as into it as I probably could have been.  In any case, for a review from our household, the majority would say go for it!  :)

My daughter can't wait for Scooby Doo to come out.  I will be there probably opening weekend.  I agree, the actor playing Shaggy was a perfect match.  I actually am kind of excited to see the movie.  Hope I am not disappointed.

Of course I have to see it...my 8 year old has been salivating about it since she saw a trailer on it months ago! I will reserve judgement until I've seen it...but of course I don't expect it to be Oscar-calibur...just as I don't think Scooby is real...is he?

I think the same way on this.  Hell, Daphne looks nothing like her cartoon! I thought she had red hair?  FPJ just looks gay..that simple!  I will wait for the video. :)

Hey, now this would have been a great idea!  :)

Least Scooby Do movie will be an example of what to NOT do! :D

I saw a trailer for this last night and it doesn't look good, I'm afraid. And they didn't ever show Sarah Michelle Gellar, at least I didn't recognize her! I'm assuming she's playing Daphne?

The first trailer was excellent (the one which is a spinoff of Batman), but the second one pretty much killed it for me. While Matthew Lillard makes a great Shaggy, the rest of the cast just don't seem to capture the feel. Besides that, I hate the fact that they felt the need to update the lingo to more current catch phrases. It's a 70s cartoon, they should have kept it in the 70s. Things like "Let's get jinkie with it" just make me sick...
