Subject: the Kashmir Dispute

Here in the US the primary focus is Afghanistan and the conflict in Israel.  However there is the possibility of a much deadlier situation on the horizon. Both India and Pakistan have nuclear weapons, both countries had over a million troops at their borders.  It looks like war was avoided this time, but as more and more nations gain nuclear technology, it’s only a matter of time before someone drops the bomb.  Thoughts?

That possibility has been here since my parents were in school.  Granted, we (USA), knew who had the weapons.  With so many countries having nuclear weapons like we have 7-11's, it is very difficult to know what to expect.  Being in the Navy, ships are a very good target for casualties and military superiority.  Nothing quite like jumping into the fire (no pun intended). 8)

I have had some training with this, the proper statement would be:  "Duck and Cover under three feet of earth for about 1-2 years or your hair falls out".  8)

If any country drops the bomb, I still think it'll be the U.S., Russia or China. Just because we are the only "superpower" left doesn't mean we are blameless if someone starts detonating nuclear arms. Remember. we still have some enemies in America, too. (Nobody here, hopefully. ;))

I respectfully disagree with that, JC.

I think that the US or Russia or China won't drop the bomb, because we all know that we won't win anything that way.  The bomb is a lose lose situation.  I think that the person who drops the bomb will be some misguided leader who thinks that if he bombs first the other guy won't be able to retaliate.  Or it will be a hothead with a short fuse (no pun intended).  Someone who won't think about it, he will just push the button.
