…happy/perky/hyper

"Here Comes Your Man," "Gigantic," "Number Thirteen Baby" – the Pixies
"Rio" – Duran Duran
"Mr. E’s Beautiful Blues" – the Eels (despite the ironically intended lyrics)
"Slow Dog" – Belly (despite the downright gruesome lyrics)
"Cherub Rock" – the Smashing Pumpkins
"Sidewalk Serfer Girl" – Super Furry Animals (despite the intentional spelling error in its title; intentional spelling errors piss me off  :P)
"Cannonball" – the Breeders
"One By One All Day" – The Shins
"Sweet Child Of Mine" – Guns N’ Roses
"Something To Talk About" – Badly Drawn Boy
"Blister in the Sun" – the Violent Femmes
"Could You Be The One?" – Hüsker Dü (this is one of the most underrated bands ever)
"Summer Lovin’" – Grease

…sad/depressed/melancholy

"Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" – the song is originally by Leadbelly but I’ve only heard Nirvana and Mark Lanegan's versions.
"Down In A Hole" – Alice in Chains
Parts of "Bohemian Rhapsody" – Queen

"Fake Plastic Trees," "Exit Music" – Radiohead
"Underneath the Weeping Willow" – Grandaddy
"Holy Water" – Soundgarden
"Disarm" – the Smashing Pumpkins
"Immortality," "Black" – Pearl Jam
"Apple Bed" – Sparklehorse

…very irritated

"Bobby’s Girl," "My Boyfriend’s Back," and "I Can Cook Too" make me sizzle with feminist rage. Linkin Park, Creed, POD, Limp Bizkit, etc annoy me. Actually Limp Bizkit is kind of funny. Nevermind.

…like dancing

"Warrior" – Patti Smith
"Once" – Pearl Jam
"I Will Survive" – Gloria Gaynor (a classic. Amusingly enough, it’s my theme song according to Emode.com)
"Susan’s House" – the Eels
"I Love Rock N’ Roll" – Joan Jett (NOT Britney Spears. You have no idea how enraged I was when I learned she covered this song.)
"Funky Town" – Lipps Inc
"Backwater" – the Meat Puppets

…like singing along

Any a capella songs. I'm a crazy a capella lover. Also:

"Dancing Barefoot" – Patti Smith
"This Wheel’s On Fire" – Siouxsie and the Banshees
"Nothing Compares To You" – Sinead O’Connor
"Fireplace" – Olivia Tremor Control
"Bright Yellow Gun" – Throwing Muses
"Women’s Realm" – Belle and Sebastian (ugh, they bother me. They’re so polite and proper and clean. Why oh why did they have to record some good songs?)

…like laughing

"Can’t Touch This" – MC Hammer
"Yoda," "Can’t Watch This," "Amish Paradise" – Weird Al
Anything by Monty Python
Anything by Limp Bizkit
"Disco Inferno" – the Bee Gees
"Dirty Pop" – N’Sync (this is the funniest piece of crap I’ve ever heard in my life)

…like nodding your head in agreement

"Rip Her To Shreds" – Blondie ;)
"F*ck and Run" – Liz Phair

"To Shiela" – the Smashing Pumpkins
"Elegie– Patti Smith
"Candy Coated Dream" – Neutral Milk Hotel
"Glycerine" – Bush
"Coming Up Roses" – Elliott Smith

…like letting out a great big "awwwww"

"Lola" – the Kinks
"Blister In The Sun" – Violent Femmes
Everything on "Best of Blondie". Debbie Harry is an awesome lady J
"Creep" – Radiohead (I guess that’s why I like their other stuff better)
"La La Love You" – the Pixies
"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" – Pat Benatar
"My Beloved Monster," "Guest List" – the Eels

What about you?  ;D

Yeah, I'm a bit of a music obsessive  ;)

Happy

A-Ha's Take On Me
Aztec Camera's Somewhere In My Heart
Duran Duran's Hungry Like The Wolf
Jan And Dean's Popsicle
Jon Bon Jovi's Living On A Prayer
Leilani's Madness Thing
The Beach Boys' Pom Pom Play Girl
The Beatles' Octopuses Garden
Wheatus' Punk *** *****

Sad? I don't know what music makes me sad. Music, in itself, whatever music it happens to be, makes my life just that little bit better if I'm feeling down, and, if things just aren't going my way, one verse of anything by The Jayhawks is enough to make me happy.

Very irritated

Anything that I see in the fifty pence bargain bins in CD shops. I'm sure you people, wherever you are, have had the same feeling at some time or other.

Like Singing Along

Anything with suitably high pitched vocals, karaoke material (quite obviously, but still). Specific songs? The Eagles' New Kid In Town is my current favourite for singing along to, although I would add Desperado and Tequila Sunrise, a surprising amount (thanks, Hairspray!) of Duran Duran material (it all comes around on the radio, eventually) and anything new from the electronia period, such as Sophie Ellis Bextor, Lasgo, et al.

Like Laughing

The Beach Boys' I'm Bugged At My Ol' Man

Any of Weird Al's material, along with The Beach Boys' "I'm Bugged At My Old Man", and "Ganz Allein" (like, totally, WHY?!) Some things baffle me.

Like Nodding Your Head in agreement

Neil Young's version of "Imagine". Such a great song, such a crucial, and pertinant update, and yet, still so true.

Relaxed

Anything by Enya, especially Only Time and I Want Tomorrow. I've been through a tense period lately.

Happy

The Cars "Magic"
The Doobie brothers "What a fool believes"
Whitesnake "Here I go Again"
Dire straits "Walk of Life"
Bruce Hornsby "Across the River"
Bruce Springsteen "Cadaliac Ranch"
Bush "Comedown"
Howard Jones "Things can only get better"

Depressed
"Shooting star" - Bad Company
"Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters" - Elton John

Nastalgic(Don't ask me why)
Drive - The Cars
Carless Wisper - Wham
Africa - Toto
No one like you - Scorpians

Happy:
Centerfold/J.Geils Band-1981
Fire Woman/The Cult-1989
Don't Talk To Strangers/Rick Springfield-1982

She's Gone/Hall & Oates-1973
On & On/Stephen Bishop-1977
Landslide/Fleetwood Mac-1975

Very Irritated:
What I Am/Edie Brickell
Most anything by Alanis Morrisette, and Mariah (My foots stuck in a bear trap) Carey. All the new stuff by the Manufactured boys and girls....Most rap, especially ones that have Stolen riffs from great Rock and Roll songs....Most country.

Like Laughing:

Amish Paradise/Wierd Al....a few years ago when I was working some overtime, I took my boom-box out and put the song on.  The warehouse guy heard the fisrt few beats and, thinking it was "Coolio", asked me to crank it up.  When he heard it was Weird Al he got a real funny look on his face  :o

I have way to many more to add in each category...but this will have to do for now ;)

Good taste, JimA! I love the Eels, the Cocteau Twins, and the Pixies :)

Rock and Roll Fan: All of those are on my hate list too. Actually I do like some rap, but most of the rap I like is less well known. The majority of mainstream rap, well, sucks, in my opinion. Then there's groups like Destiny's Child that make me feel like punching something — and I'm usually a very peaceful, nonviolent person. Oh and Mariah Carey and Alanis Morissett! Don't get me started on them! Extreme levels of ughness.

Does that feel good, Lebiew? All that anger slowly being gotten out from all those songs?

Those are the exact reasons I hate Alanis Morissette. It's summed up perfectly. The only thing that bothers me is the attitude about Pearl Jam, my favorite band ever. I love ALL their CDs :)

It's all true, and Neil Young needs some more dedicated performers to tour with him, as is...
