Subject: Songs you can't get enough of...

Written By: Jonman on 07/24/02 at 01:07 a.m.

Okay I admit it...I stole the idea from the "Songs You're Sick Of" thread...but hey, are there any songs nowadays that you just can't hear enough? The ones I'm constantly crankin' and not hearin' enough are:

Black Suit's Comin' (Nod Your Head) - Will Smith
Somewhere Out There - Our Lady Peace
Just Like A Pill - Pink

I'm sure I'll be sick of them eventually but for now I'm crankin' them!

I also have the new Bon Jovi single "Everyday" on mp3 and it ROCKS but it's not officially released until mid-August :D

The one's I'm listening to over and over again ATM are:

The Bricklayer's Song by Ray Cooper (so that I can learn it to play on the guitar)
Out In The Fields by Thin Lizzie (having done the parody to it, I've kind of got hooked, again)
I Can't Explain/Love Drive/Rock You Like A Hurricane by Scorpions

....and a whole Weird Al tape that's on permanent replay in the car...

"Follow Me" -Uncle Kracker

There's some more too, but I can't think of them right now.

Thought of another that I've been listening to a lot lately: "Why You Wanna Break My Heart?" by Tia Carrere. I'm sure you know the song, it's off of Wayne's World.

Wow - Long list Junior! :)

Most of the songs I can't get enough of at the moment are really a mixture of old and new -

Jxl vs Elvis - A little less conversation (This is such a good remix IMHO)
Christina Milian - When You Look At Me ( Didn't like this at first, but it's grown on me)
A New Found Glory - Sincerely Me
The Clash - Train In Vain/London Calling
Mono - Life In Mono
Squeeze - Tempted/Black Coffee In Bed
Elvis Costello - Every day I write the book/Can't Stand Up for falling down/Love peace and harmony
Stereophonics - Local boy in the photograph (I forgot how great this song was)
Michelle Branch - All you wanted
The Smiths - What She Said/Unlovable/Half a person (Even though I love 95% of their stuff)
Hundred Reasons - Silver/If I could
Lifehouse - Breathing

and finally

Kylie Minogue - Love at first sight (I just really like this - It's catchy! :))

Anything by Van Morrison

Nice one, Jonman - saves a bit of time and trouble, though I guess it wouldn't have been too hard to work out ;-)

No keychanges?  There's a couple in RC's version, but they'd be ->E then F# I guess.  I'll see how it plays without.

Thanks

Hey Tarzan Boy, how do you feel about the theme to "Twin Peaks" ("Falling" by Julee Cruise)? It's got a similar haunting etherealness to it...

Anyway, my "Just Can't Get Enough" (;D ) songs tend to be short, and therefore always leave me wanting more (I just tend to rewind and play it a second time  :D )

Get Yourself Together - Velocette
There Is A Light The Never Goes Out - The Smiths
The Way - Fastball
Your Girl - The Muffs

A very long song: Tunnel Of Love - Dire Straits

And of course heaps of others too numerous to mention!

"Head On" - The Jesus And Mary Chain
"Bizarre Love Triangle" - New Order
"Annie Get Your Gun" - Squeeze

Just thought of another one...

"Kooler Than Jesus (Electric Messiah)" - Thrill Kill Kult

To listen a lot to such a Smiths song would defeat the object. For me, I listen beacuse of Morrisseys lyrics. Although I like the instrumentals, I'm more of a 'lyrics' person, and although The Smiths would not be The Smiths without Marrs music, I don't enjoy them as much as songs with meaningful lyrics. One such song which is the opposite of this is 'Miserable Lie'. I can't listen to it, even though the lyrics are great, I dislike the music immensely! :)

mrgazpacho - The song your thinking of is by Drugstore and Thom Yorke - fantastic song, I like it a lot ;)

Okay I just stayed up and watched OLP on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilbourn and they SUCKED!! That's  twice I've heard them live and they've SUCKED both times!! They opened for Alanis on her Jagged Little Pill tour and I had to leave they were so bad and now on TV in front of their "new found American audience" they SUCKED again! It's embarassing....good Canadian kids like that and they SUCK so bad live...maybe they shouldn't tour...stick to the studio where they sound good...

Jonman's rant is done.........for now ;)

Thanks DJ Midas. I did a search and downloaded two different versions of the song, so I think a lady called Loretta Lynn must have covered it - and that is the version I have. I think I kind of prefer it to the Lynn Anderson version! :]
