Subject: Wish me luck!

Written By: Jessica on 08/08/02 at 10:22 p.m.

Tomorrow I'm going to take the behind the wheel driving test for my license. My friend took it last week, and she said that they are really strict on how many times you can screw up when driving. So here's hoping that tomorrow I'll come back with good news. :D

Best of luck, Jessica!

I'm sure you've practiced and are ready to take the test, so the best advice I can give is just try to relax.

And you could try wearing a mini skirt.  I did on my driving test, and got zero demerits...  ;D

Don't forget to smile pretty for your picture.  :D

Taking a drivers license test ranks way up there in the top dreaded things category. No doubt about it.

You’ll do fine though. Just think of all the millions of people already on the road. If they can do it, so can you.

Best of luck.

You don't always have to be exactly 16 to take a driving test, its not the 50s anymore.

i never implied that you had to be exactly 16..
6 years after the minimum age would be late in my opinion... although i don't know what the age is in california to take it..

and i don't see what anything has to do with the 50's...

Well everyone, I failed it because I hit the curb when I was parking. I didn't even hit it that hard because I didn't know until she told me that I hit it. Pretty stupid reason to fail me, huh? ::) Other than that, I did fine. That's okay, because I'm going to try again at the end of the month. Thanks to everyone for wishing me luck. :)

I'm sorry that you didn't pass this time Jessica! Sounds like they have some really serious driving tests! You will do it next time!!

YOU MEAN YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HIT THE CURB WHEN YOU PARK??  Obviously they've just never driven in Vancouver...

You'll get it next time, Jessica.  :)  It does sound like the requirements there are really very strict.  Just be sure to let us know when you pass, so we can offer the appropriate congratulations!

(Trust me, though, the miniskirt thing can't hurt... ;))

Bad luck Jess

At least you can try again soon - when I went for my licence, if you didn't make it, you had to wait 3 months before they would 'let' you try again... >:(

Man oh man your testers are strict over there - My dad has hit at least one kerb every day of his driving life !  I use to think that part of owning a vehicle meant checking for dents after each parking attempt !!

Sorry you didnt succeed Jessica - but think of it like a horse - try again in a month or two.

Thursday - the minimum age in any state or country is simply there to say "nope you cant drive if you are younger than this".  It is not there as a legal reqirement to sit the test by this due date or else.  There is no "use by date".  To suggest someone is leaving it a bit late because they havent sat the test by 22 is ........  well I cant descibe what it is !

I am 33 and have yet to decide whether I want to learn to drive or not - and the lady at the end of my street got her licence for the first time a couple of years ago and she was 75 !  I realise you are only 16 so I will be gentle - but you will soon realise that age is no barrier to anything anyone chooses to do in their life.  My grandfather did his first skydive at 77 and his second at 80 - he is now planning one for his 90th in a couple of years.  At the other end of the scale - my ten year old cousin is a qualified pilot of light aircraft.
