Subject: Oscar Winner Kim Hunter Dead at 79

Written By: Indy Gent on 09/12/02 at 10:22 p.m.

A lot of the Gen X and Gen W people remember her as the taking simian Zira in the original "Planet of the Apes" and two sequels ("Beneath..." and "Escape From...") in the 70s. But Kim Hunter, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for playing Stella in the 1950 movie "A Streetcar Named Desire", died of natural causes this week. Here career lasted until the 80s, when she "retired" from Hollywood. She was 79, and she will be missed. :'(

A Streetcar Named Desire is one of my favorite movies of all time. Kim Hunter, along with Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh, gave such amazing performances in that film. She was a wonderful actress and will indeed be missed...
