Subject: Baseball Playoffs

Written By: RockandRollFan on 10/07/02 at 05:03 p.m.

Well, if the Cardinals can get to the World Series I hope they can play the Twins and pay them back for the '87 series.

And I hope things go exactly the same way they did in '87.   ;)

I don't want the Cardinals back in the Series and pay back the Twins. I want the Twins to beat the Cards (or Braves or Giants) and pay back Bud Selig for nearly killing the team. ;)

The Twins are alright....I don't hate them...it's just hard for me to enjoy them playing inside a giant "Baggie" dome...with a "White" ceiling.  I do however, agree about Selig.  I can't imagine baseball without the Twins. In closing, I'd like to also add that I wish the Vikings still played Outside...like Green Bay :D There's nothing more fun than seeing a football game in the winter snow.

Sheesh... I hate agreeing with everything you guys have said so far, but there you have it.

By the way, I heard a report that Selig "may not be able" to attain an ALCS game in Minnesota.  Funny.

They ought to contract the Brewers >:(

Maybe the fans shouldn't retain Kaiser Selig as the baseball Commissioner. ;)

If anything good came out of the Jesse regime, it was the Bod sticking up to baseball when they tried to force a new stadium down Minnesota's throat.  Contraction was the price the good fans of Montreal and Minnesota were to pay for not building a new play pen.
If you have sympathy for any sports fans, have it for Expos fans.  That team was drawing two and a half million a year when they had decent ownership and a winning team.  God have they been disserved.

I'm a Orioles fan, tride and true so I can't say much. I'm just soooo glad the "Damn Yankees" are out of it. Wouldn't it be poetic justice if the Twins did win it all, though.

I'm glad the Braves are out of it.  I started hating them when they got rid of Dale Murphy.

Ok...here I go.  I am glad that both the Braves and the Yankees are out of the series.  I can't stand either team.  I would love for the Twins to win for two reasons.  1.  To show Bud Selig that he is an idiot and maybe he sould be contracted, and 2.  Our local triple A team used to be affiliated with the Twins.  I was listening to an interview yesterday with Denny Hocking (my favorite Twin) and he was discussing some of the players.  It was like a run down memory lane...I would love to see them win.  Of course before that they have to play the Angels...our current major league affiliate.  I am still rooting for the twins. ;D

BTW, Steve, I corrected my original post :-[.
The Expos fans have the triple whammy of having  a losing team, one with bad finances, and bad management. I know that Montreal is a hockey town, but they were in danger of having the Canadiens move to the States for awhile. No Canadian sports teams are safe.  :(

Who owns the Expos now?  Major league baseball?  Didn't their former owner, that shyster carpetbagger Jeffrey Loria, buy the Florida Marlins?

Somehow, I'd like to see an act passed, in Canada and the United States, that recognizes major sports teams as local resources.  That they belong as much to a community as they do to a transcient owner.

The major sports owe it to us fans, God damn it.  We're didn't decide to raise players' salaries to the point that some teams are on the brink of bankrupcy... but we've borne more than our share of the cost.  And pity the poor kid born and raised in Montreal who grew up loving the locals.  That team has been owned by a succession of pimps and rum-runners for the last twenty years...

I think there's meat to baseball contraction talks.  Some teams are swimming in red.  But, hey.... those things happen when you have rogue owners paying players $250 million over a ten year period.

Well IF the "Twinkies" win...maybe they'll be able to afford some real walls instead of hefty bags :D Still, my personal order for the winner of the World series is:
1. St. Louis
2. Anaheim
3. Minnesota
4. Frisco

St Louis and Minnesota would make the best series.

St Louis because of what that team has been through this year, with the deaths of Darryl Kile and Jack Buck.  Minnesota cause Herr Selig had them under a sharp knife a year ago (I'd love to see him in the Twins' locker room after they'd won it all...)

It would be cool to see Barry Bonds in the Series.

Is there any reason to root for Anaheim?
