Subject: 8 Mile ... movie and/or soundtrack

Written By: Sagnastian on 10/12/02 at 11:30 a.m.

am sure everyone pretty much heard about em's new movie "8 Mile".  I persoanlly love his new single "Lose Yourself".  I've seen the trailer like a year ago and the story line looks pretty good.  I've seen the artists to perform on there and I cannot wait to get it.  the soundtrtack comes out October 29 and the movie release is November 8.  anyone else looking forward of seeing this?

Both are fantastic, IMHO.

Music:  I don't have many of the album tracks but i liked the 'freestyles' in the film - especially the one outside the factory.  And as for 'Loose Yourself', i preferred the beat and the lyric it had in the middle of the film (the bit where he's got headphones on and writing the lyric at the desk).

Film:  It was alright.  Pretty much what i was expecting though:  Fairly hackneyed plot (young guy with problems struggling for success/the 'big time' etc. etc.); and it was too much sort of loosely based around Eminem's life.  What i did like about it was it was the only real glimpse i've had of life for 'trailer-park' youths in inner-city America - opviously i have no reference points or anything to gauge how 'genuine' or 'true-to-life' it was, but it seemed fairly plausable/realistic although i think they played down the political incorrect elements like homophobia etc.  Eminem's acting was surprising: He was actually quite believeable in some scenes but then again he's basically playing himself in the film :-/ ; i don't think he's about to have a starring rôle in any other film any time soon though.  Oh yeah, and the rap-battles reminded me of punk shows - the crowd anyway... 5 out of 10 i spose.
