Subject: SEX!

I just thought it was funny.  I'm not advocating a discussion about sex right now, but if that's what happens, so be it.

Congratulations, Canada :)  You'll beat those French folk yet!

Carefully, of course.  ;)

HIV/AIDS is still VERY prevalent. Cannot stress enough the end result - DEATH.

Venereal diseases are also around, so protect yourselves folks!

Edited to add: Don't mean to sound preachy. It's just a general message with what I still consider to be good advise. :)

Sex was desighned by God for 3 reasons

1: Reproduction
2: A permanent bond between male and female ( not males and males , not females and females )
3: For Pleasure

And as far as gay sex goes, to me its not sex its just flat out sin, because no one is born with a gay sexuality, it is simply something they choose to do , its is simply a sinful life style, and just for the record i dont quite agree with oral sex either , so if you have to please use protection, but use wisdom and save it for your future God given husband or wife

I respect your right to your opinion AND your religious beliefs; but I am forced by personal experiences to disagree.

I grew up with several friends, who were raised in two different families.  One was rich, never went to church, and had their father happily married to their mother.  There were 10 boys.  One family was poor, devoutly religious but never knew who their father was until their mom died.  That family had eight boys and one girl.

When the mother of the second family died in a car crash, it was discovered that their biological father was the (supposedly) faithful father of the first family.

Of the nineteen children with radically different upbringings, twelve of them were gay.  That's an agument in favor of a hereditary condition if I ever saw one.

Also, keep in mind that up until twenty years or so ago, most gay persons were forced to marry and produce children or risk their very lives.  As dangerous as it was (and still is) to be openly gay, I cannot believe that anyone would CHOOSE such a life.

*WHEW!*  I'm glad you said it, Kat, because I didn't know how to state my opinion without offending anyone :-/

I choose to think of homosexuality not as a disease, but as a different way of expressing oneself.  I have a bunch of gay/lesbian friends and they seem normal, they just make love to different kinds of people.

You have the right to your own opinion, John, but try not to persecute the people who are just ever so slightly different from you ;)

Young Ghetto John,
Here is a question for you, at the age of 12 or 13 did you make a concious choice towards attraction to females?  Did you think to yourself, h'mm men or women, what is my choice?
I know I had not choice in the matter, doubtful you and others did as well, I can remeber kids in grade school that ended up being gay and you know what?  It wasn't a shock to me. Perhaps there is a small % of people that make a choice but that is usually the result of some traumatic behavours/incidents, take a Psych course in college when you get there and it could clear some things up for you.  The key thing to do is not allow someones sexuality influance your relationships with others, sex does not define a person.

My two cents --

We aren't given a lot of chances in life.  Opportunities for happiness, contentment, fulfillment, love, don't present themselves to anybody very other day.  If two individuals are lucky enough to find it, more power to them.  The greater sin is to come in with a stink bomb and condemn them.

Gotta disagree too GJ !

A point to make to you - I am three times your age.  Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with your age, I was there once too !

My point is at 13 I didn't have the experience of life that I do now.

I didn't know what homosexuality was.  When I became aware of it, I was frightened by it.  When I was 13, (mid 70's) homosexuality was NOT a subject to be discussed.  At all.  Most adults simply pretended it didn't exist.

You are 13 in a more open time - whether or not it is an enlightened time is debateable....

Race and Rice (sounds like some comedy duo) have said it, and now I'm going to say it.

Please don't let yourself be guided to the extent where you ignore people who are different.  If I were to cut out of my life people who were different from me....let's make a quick list :

Homosexual/Bisexual
Ethnic Differences
Different Skin Colour

Just to name three common ideological current issues .....

I would be a very lonely person.  Not them, they would be okay.  It is me who would have the problem.

Getting back to my comment about our age differences, my point is this :

You can swim as much as you want against the tide, you will only wear yourself out.  Many of my friends and work colleagues fall into such categories, including the category that inspired this response.  They are all nice people.  I would not want to be without them.  I have long since learned to look inside the book and not simply at the cover.

I'm glad I wasn't the first person to read and reply to this, or y'all would have found out while I'm called the Goreripper! Y'know what? Most of the gay couples I know have been together longer and are happier than many of the heterosexual people I know. Y'know what else, there is evidence to suggest that homosexual tendencies are apparent in other animals besides humans. Rats and mice often display homosexual behaviour and in fact, I had a male cat that used to try to mount the other male cats in my household. This would prove to me that a 'gay sexuality' is actually quite common. Indeed, in Ancient Greece, and in Rome until the rise of Christianity, it was considered normal for males to have male lovers. Taboos regarding homo- and bi-sexuality in Western culture have their roots in Judeo-Christian scripture. And as far as 'sex for pleasure' goes, isn't sex for pleasure alone called fornication? I thought that was a sin.

Okay, no one else is going to do it, so I will play Devil's advocate here.

Some of you are doing the very same thing you accuse Ghetto John of doing. He offered his opinion that homosexuality is wrong, and that it is a choice that people make. Now then, most of you have refrained from being nasty, but at the same time the message he is getting is that he is wrong. I didn't think opinions could ever be wrong. I don't think he was trying to convince anyone that his opinion was right, he was just expressing it.

You know what? I know some gay people. I am friends with some gay people. You know what else? I disagree with their lifestyle, but they are free to live it. Does this make me one of the dim bulbs who needs to be enlightened? Mind you, I don't really care if it does, because if you think so then it is only your opinion.  ;)

You're correct, intolerance does get ugly sometimes, and it usually comes from a person's belief that they are right, whichever side of the issue they are on.  But I don't see how you can equate not agreeing with a particular lifestyle, or anything else, with intolerance. The two don't go hand in hand. I can see and completely agree with the exchange of ideas, with you or anyone else explaining to GJ why you have a differing opinion from his, but I don't think there is any reason to assume he is planning anything diabolical.

As a Christian, it is incumbent upon GJ to believe that homosexuality is wrong. It is a basic tenet of the religion. However, another tenet is that God does not hate the sinner, but rather the sin. Perhaps this is what GJ has not expressed properly. Or perhaps even this avowal would not be enough to satisfy.

I won't argue semantics with you over what an opinion is, but I will agree that there are some you could offer that I would agree with, and others you could offer that I would not.  But the rightness or wrongness is subjective, based solely on one's own experiences and beliefs.

I would also agree with your observations about youth. As we get older we gain experience and we learn things, see different viewpoints and alter our own according to how our environment affects us. I don't have a problem at all with you or anyone else explaining why your opinion is different... that is why these forums are here. But I also don't think GJ should be made to feel as though he is being ganged up on. Remember your own words... he is young.

So because this Bishop has an opinion that says one thing he is right, but because someone else has an opinion that says something else, they are wrong? He says he regards... that is his interpretation.  I daresay you will find other Episcopal Bishops who will take the exact opposite stance, because there is a big division within that church drawn down conservative/liberal lines.

I say this is a basic tenet of the Christian faith because it was a part of the religion from its founding. Obviously there have been splits within various denominations over the years over such issues as this, and the Episcopal church is one of them. I don't know anything about the Bishop you quoted, but I would wager that he is a member of the more liberal half of the Episcopalian church.

I would be less surprised if you claimed the divinity of Jesus Christ and the Bible as the revealed word of God as basic tenets of Christianity.
For instance, you don't have to be opposed to homosexuality to be a Christian, although you would have troubles if you doubted the Divine Word as revealed in the Bible (and interpreted by imperfect and fallible commentators throughout Its history).

Look i just want to thank lester for standing up for me, i would never be one to think my oppinions were completely right. because like he said an oppinion is an oppinion, like if someone asked me why my guitar has 6 strings and not 7 i could offer my opinion and so could the person next to me, but in all odds me nor the person sittin next to me is going to know why a guitar doesnt have 6 strings. And i also apologize for the fact that i didnt say that  God does not hate the sinner, but rather the sin and once again i apoligize but like lester said i never intended to start an ugly argument , cuz quite frankly i dont like to argue, im not good at it, but yes i too have Gay friends two to be exact, and i assure you that i treat them no different then anyone else. I simply as earlier put dont agree with their life style. Like i hold nothing against my friend who is an atheist , in fact hes one of my best friends ,and me who in the past used to be an atheist hold nothing against him. but if he ask my opinion on the way he lives i would tell him what i know, and if there something i cant answer then i will find someone who can so this is probally going to be my last post on this subject cuz the last thing i want is for someone to start disliking me, over an oppinion. See...me and RiceCube were just gonna goof off... ::)

I'll add in my 2 cents- yes, homosexuality IS a sin. I didn't make the rules, it's in the book. HOWEVER...it is no more a sin than lying or stealing. We're all sinners, so I am no better than you, and vice versa. We're all equal, and without God's love, all equally screwed. But remember, God loves us all REGARDLESS of our sins, and He asks us all to do the same. Therefore, it is not up to me to tell any of you how to live or how to love. Granted, I may disagree, but in the end, what you do is between you and God.

I believe that if we all understood that one simply fact, intolerance would no longer exist.

There's my 2 cents.

ok i know that the subject has been changed but bare with me for a second. If  you go to the book of Leviticus and turn to Chapter 18 verse 22 you will find that it says " You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination"
Then in Chapter 20 verse 13 you will find that it says " if a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them." Now the death part was apparently a part of Jewish Law but regardless this is going back to the times before christianity so dont blame it on Christianity, and just an add in by you referring to my oppinion as ignorance then you have insulted my Beliefs, which is harsh. but im not going to hold that against anyone, but you will also find it in I CORINTHIANS Chapter 6: Verse 9 "Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be decieved neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in Homosexuality."

So there you have it Old Testamen And New testament my oppinion is not based on youthful Ignorance, but on Biblical knowledge. But i also remember someone talking about the Catholic Church, which is a church that believes you can pay your way out of hell or forgiveness comes through confessing to a priest , or that allows homosexuals to be their priest, any church who believes that , Episcopalian or what , is not right with God, Salvation comes through faith and not through works, And forgiveness comes through confessing and requesting forgiveness from God and no other. And as for Homo Sexuals being ordained priest, then well thats just completely out of Gods will so who is the God of the Catholic Church, in my OPPINION it is THE COLLECTIVE OPPINION OF MAN, NOT GOD , AND A GROUP OF MEN OR SORRY A MAN MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE POPE! so there you have it im done ive voiced my final oppinion on the subject thank you and God bless. Peace Ghetto John.

Are you kidding? Those elves work year round for Santa making toys and things...or...actually...let's be logical.

To keep up with inflation, Santa has probably relocated his factories to a third world country. Cheaper production costs and such. I mean, can you imagine the cost of having all that stuff shipped to the North Pole rather than say...Taiwan?

Regardless, the elves work hard for Santa, and in exchange for being up there in the cold, i'm sure Santa pays them very well. Elf porn...what a concept...

:'(

I've been gone for a while, and I read GJ's post a few pages back. ^ is crying because it's come to this. I hate to drag this out, but I must offer this point. Ghetto John, have you ever read Matthew 7:1? It says Judge not, lest ye be judged. Like I said, homosexuality is a sin, but that doesn't make them any greater or any lesser in God's eyes than you or I. It's not right to down another person because of their sexual choices, or for ANY reason. Yes, it says don't lie with a man as you would a woman. But it also says...don't steal, don't lie, don't tell dirty jokes. If you look at the right verse, it's a sin to have mildew in your house. Bottom line: we ALL are sinners. Homosexuals, adulterers, thieves, those who curse and take the Lord's name in vain, those who look at porn...the lis goes on and on. God looks at us ALL the same. John 3:16 says 'God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. I didn't say it. HE did. Therefore, how is it wrong for a gay man to be a preacher? Is he any less deserving of God's love because he's committed that specific sin? And if he knows the truth, is he not bound by God's will to tell others of it? I thought that's what we were supposed to do. Spread the good news, right?

It is the HUMAN eye that sees homosexuality as a barrier. That is what I want to be made crystal clear. God's love for us is greater than any sin could ever be. Why is it so hard for all of us to see that?

There is actually a town in the state of Alaska, in the USA called "North Pole".

Hundreds of thousands of letters addressed to Santa Clause end up there every year.  If you send a letter, and it arrives during the first week of December, you will get an answering letter from "Santa".   You can also send all of your Christmas cards, (in sealed envelopes, with the proper postage) addressed to the local postmaster, who will then send them out for you, giving your cards a North Pole postmark.

This would mean Santa, and his elves come under the jurisdiction of the United States laws concerning labor issues, taxes, and pornography. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Subject: Re: SEX!

Written By: Syncronos on 12/04/02 at 07:35 a.m.

Steve, allow me to explain my theory on Santa Claus.

St. Nick really does exist. History does record a Saint Nicholas. And I do believe at one point that whole reindeer thing with the sleigh and all was true...but times have changed. I mean, with the terrorist threat of today...or even with the whole Reagan Era 'Star Wars' saga...Santa would have had to change up his strategy to do his job: deliver toys to all the children.

Also, the up and down the chimney thing probably held true, until people started building houses with no chimneys. And back in those days, before the joys of computerized taxes, he could probably get by without too much stress from Uncle Sam while he was mass producing his toys.

Times have changed...and so has Santa.

Nowadays...I believe that Santa is the invisible force behind all the major toys companies...Mattel, Hasbro, etc. His elves (some disguised as humans) are running the companies, thereby distributing the toys to the children. Obviously, this method is less effective than the old one, as toys come in short supply (the Tickle-Me-Elmo shortage, the PS-2 crisis, etc). But, it is safer for all involved to do this rather than get arrested (or shot) for breaking and entering while creeping through someone's chimney.

So, seeing as Santa doesn't do much...his sex life HAS to be great
