Bigfoot is great, if you like dark meat.  Key thing is to age the meat, kinda tough otherwise. ;)

In all seriousness -

There are ancient Indian stories of a "Big Foot" that pre-date Ray L. Wallace’s work.

That's so sad. I liked his convenience stores.

Let me explain, Hairspray. There are a bunch of convenient stores in the Midwest called "Bigfoot", just like 7-Eleven. That was it. If that was inappropriate, just tell me and delete the post.

True. There are Native American stories of the Thunderbird too, but no one went looking for that.  :)

I just find it interesting that we will go off and investigate the probability of one legend, but not another.

Sorry Hairspray. I shouldn't let it bother me. If you find my humor to be vague, I shouldn't let it get to me. It's your opinion. I just wanted you to know what I based my "Bigfoot" joke on.

Apology accepted. It's still good you posted the basis for your joke, just in case others out there don't know about the oddly named convenience stores.

It is my opinion this culture has a tendency to play "follow the leader". If enough of a "hubbub" is made and someone makes it known they're going out there to look for a Thunderbird, some people are sure to follow. And if someone's really good at attracting attention... Even Better.

And there's been enough tantalizing evidence (hair samples, etc), in the northwest United States and in the Himalayas, to leave the question of a bigfoot or yeti  open.  There is stuff out there hard to explain away.

I haven't spotted one in my neighborhood (West Seattle) but there is this stocky Italian guy that often works in his yard  shirtless. ;)

Thank you, Race. If one isn't from the Midwest, they probably won't get it. ;)
