Subject: 2nd suspect in Blaines Death Gets 19 Years!!
The trial for the 2nd suspect in my son Blaines Murder begins today...here is the story from my local paper:
Jurors will hear opening statements today in a trial of the man accused in the shooting death of a sandwich shop worker during a robbery.
Joshua Russell Kramer, 21, faces first degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy and other charges in the shooting of Coronado High School junior Blaine Joseph Steele, 17, on April 26, 2001, at the subway sandwich shop at 8th and Cimarron streets.
Angel Louis Lopez, 25, was convicted of being the triggerman in the shooting and in April was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Prosecuters say lopez and Karamer robbed the store while Joseph Edward Crownover, 23, waited in a car outside. Crownover will be tried March 10.

Thanks IndyGent....but I also think the driver is just as responsible....he has dragged this out through 7 lawyers....That means 3 killers....so i hope he goes in for life too >:(

I believe the driver can only be an accessory to murder, but I hope he gets the same as the other 2.

In Colorado If you are involved in a crime and someone other than the criminals die it is Capitol Murder and all involved are given a mandatory life sentence....I am not attending this trial either, for fear of well..let's just leave it at that, shall we... >:(

We JUST found out the the judge had seen a piece of paper concerning the case months ago....and so they have to change judges and start ALL OVER AGAIN...we just don't know when yet....and here we were gonna hear closing arguments by weeks end >:(

It's officially a mistrial because the judge was involved in a case with a potential witness...10 years ago, so it was ruled a conflict of interest. I find out tomorrow when a new Judge and Jury will be chosen. Thanks again for all the wonderful words and prayers :)

I am truly sorry about these recent developments, Mark. But the good news is that it is only justice delayed and not dying. I hope that the new trial turns out better and that Blaine will have the justice he deserves. Hang in there. And Merry Christmas.

Thanks everyone...again ;) It's okay that a new trial will eventually start but now this one is delayed until March while the driver gets an extension until June >:( I wish it would just end......

Actually this was the second guy...the shooter was the first convicted. This moron went in the establishment with him and yet to come is the trial of the driver. :-*
