Subject: Do we have any military people here?

Okay, so who has the better football team, Army or Navy?
;D ;D ;D

Seriously, I hope you all have a great Christmas. And if you would like to tell us a bit about yourselves, this would be a great time to do so. Active or Reserve, Current or Retired. Any interesting stories?

Well I am technically in the reserve. I got disharged from the navy last year, and they can still call my back if they get desperate.

An interesting story:

Well, we were on the greek island of Mikinos and i was on shore patrol, these two people come running up two me and tell me how there liberty partner is "causing trouble". So I eventually find him, he is drunk out of his mind, and he is picking a fight with a greek shopkeeper.  He also is my best friend.  Anyways there were four of us there so each of us grabs a limb and carries him 2 miles back to the boat.  So when he gets on the boat they senfd him to medical, and he picks a fight with the petty officers down there.  When I got back from shhore patrol, I had to stand drunk watch on him all night. The next week I had to testify aginst him at captains mast, I tried to keep my story to minimum to get him out of trouble, but the other whitnesses made up for it. shortly after he was kicked out of the Navy.

Poor guy. He probably felt like he was stuck on the boat and wanted to blow off some steam. Dumb to pick a fight with a petty officer, or any officer. Those NCO's can be more viscious than a pit bull. So, what made you decide to leave the Navy? I have a friend who is in his 9th year, and he is going to stay for 11 more. He will have a pension when he is 38.

I just got tired of the crap I had to take. Here is some examples:

1.  I had been on the same boat for five years, we were in three section duty most of the time (every third day you had to stay on the ship).

2. I was the only E-5 in my section that was qualified Inport OOD so I always had the midwatch,

3. The people below me didn't want to work

4. The people above me kept wanting me to do stuff beyond my level (such as casreps, where i had to go talk to 0-5 and 0-6's)

5. I had to order everything because the supply PO didn't know his job

6. I had to send my DCPO to mast 3 times

7. I had to make sure another E-5, who wasn't very keen on hygene, took a shower every morning.

8.  I always got woke up in the middle of the night if something broke.

9.  I was an electronics tech and I hated electronics

There are more reasons, this is just the tip of the Iceberg.

Navy, active 87-91, reserve, 91-95, hated every minute of it.

Happy sailin' Screwball. Hope you have your sunscreen packed 'cause "Uncle G.W. wants YOU!" ;D

Damn...I had buried this way down in the pile in my head but...Air Force May 30, 1979-November 30, 1979...They promised my "Dream Base" (the former Lowery AFB) in Denver and communications/Broadcasting...I got BOTH but 2 months removed from Basic Training they told me no communications were offered there!  They then offered me...Cook-No, General Discharge-NO and here's why I buried this...they then offered a new fangled thing called Data Processing! I said "No" and they gave me an Honorable Discharge after being in for 6 months.....S.A.L.U.T.E ::)
