I wish The Simpsons would grow up already! I mean, who's tired of seeing Bart and Lisa as kids? I would like to see them as adults and Homer and Marge as old farts. When the show started in 1989,Bart and Lisa by now would be 22,23 years old and Homer and Marge would be in their mid-60's.What do you guys think?

Techincally, we should use the year 1987 as the real start date for the "existence" of the Simpsons, since that is when they first appeared.  Plus Bart's hair, skateboard and attitude was always like an 80's party dude.  If in 1987 Bart was 10 and Lisa 8, then today they would be around 25/26 and 23/24 respectively.  If you use 1989 as the year, then they would be a couple of years younger obviously.  And Homer and Marge would be in their late 50s or yes even their 60s.

But since they are animated they never age!  Like Fred Flinstone.

Who would watch it if the kids grew up and Homer became Abe? It's not necessary really. You know Bart's going to end up like Homer, anyway, so if you like you can just pretend they have grown up and Bart is Homer and Homer is Abe.  ;D

There was an Episode where that happened. Well, not exactly, a guy at a casino tells bart's future.

I still like The Simpsons and I have Bart as my personal picture. After all, he is my favourite character from the show. My fave episodes are Trilogy of Error and Barting Over. BO is the 300th episode. Anyone seen it?

You left out the "forgotten" Simpson, Maggie.  I think she ends up being a punk rocker or something.

Anyone ever notice they don't play the World Trade Center episode since 9-11?

They've played it here. And in the greatest faux-pas in TV programming history, the channel that runs it here ran the episode in which Krusty the Klown is asked by the TV reporter "Are you and Princess Di really just friends?" on the night she was killed. I had visions of some producer somewhere sitting at home that night going, "D'oh!"

Simply sublime timing...

PS What I love most about the Simpsons is the number of times my children ask me what I'm laughing about, yet they love the show too (though it's a shame, but my wife doesn't get the joke).  It works so well at both levels.
