If your all watching the news, then you should already know that NASA is now talking over wheather or not they should make new shuttle models. The Columbia was the oldest space-shuttle they had, and it survived over 20 missions.

   28 missions, to be exact, and it was designed to carry on for 100 missions.  I've heard the talk of moving foreward towards a new design - "next generation" of craft.  It will be hotly debated for quite some time.

Debated and dropped.  It ain't going to happen.  
I've also heard that NASA would have been better off sticking with disposable, use-and-toss, crafts.  They thought the shuttle was the cheaper ride, and they were wrong.
