Subject: Too Much Information?

Written By: Indy Gent on 02/09/03 at 00:43 a.m.

Reality shows are known to divulge dirt on contestants that we coudn't really care less about. The latest example, or the most recent one I know about, is that Sarah Kozar, the blonde finalist on "Joe Millionaire", had a former life as an actress of bondage and foot fetish films. Time Magazine even had a picture of Sarah, with an inset photo of a younger Sarah gagged and in tears. She insists she was paying for her education and was never nude in any of her "films". What other examples of sleaze on these shows (or other media, movies, TV) have you noticed? And should this information even be exposed to the public?

Personally I think Joe M. is just another way to lure people into another "love match" reality show.  Face it, we've already seen Darva Conger marry a complete stranger (and that didn't work) and we've seen The Bachelors choose their futures wives on camera (and those didn't work out either) and Temptation Island (where pratically all the couples ended up divorcing afterwards).  The network had to come up with something different. Ooohh..lets take a poor hard working construction dude who happens to look like a runway model and have him lie & make a butt out of himself (which personally I think the women on the show look more like jack-as**s to me).  And then to find out that one of these "perfect" women was a fetish freak.  Oh the scandals!  Let's create even more scandal and have Joe M. model rubber underwear for Gay Men magazines!  It will be like our own little freak sideshow!  It will boost our ratings even more!  They probably picked her to be on the show after finding out about the bondage tapes!

It's a scam people.  These shows are not reality-based at all!  I mean, who in there right mind would go to the the Austrailian Outback with nothing but a skimpy bikini and a headband?  And sleep in the dirt?  Thats not reality!  Thats ignorance!

:o

Well I guess the thought of winning a million dollars and a shot at minor celebrity will make people do anything.

personally i thought the producers o joe millionaire should've just gone for the complete gusto and in the end instead of finding out that "joe" wasn't a millionare the women find out "joe" is really "josephine". if you're going to shock these women why not go all out??. in case you haven't noticed i can't stand "reality" shows at all.

And that's my point, 80s cheerleader. We only hear about these reality based game show contestants' dirty laundry. We never hear of the humanitarian efforts of these money-craving people, because frankly, the networks don't want them to be anything more that ignorant pin-up hearthrobs or evil geniuses. I can always look for those people in my own areas.
