Subject: Country Star Johnny Paycheck Dies At 64

Written By: Indy Gent on 02/19/03 at 08:03 p.m.

For those true fans of old time country music, this is truly tragic. Johnny Paycheck, the grizzled singer known for his anthem, "Take This Job And Shove It" in the 70s, died today. He was 64. He has written other hits, but "Take This.." was his signature song. He will be missed by many. :'(

I quit my job today in honor of him. I told my boss:

"Take this job and shove it,
I ain't workin here no more".

I think paycheck would have been proud of me.

Finally saw it in the paper this morning…  :'(

After he was released from prison in the 1990's, he lived for a while in Craigsville, WV.

OMG..that is so sad. :'(  64 is way too young to die.  What happened, was he sick?  I can't find anything on it.

Nevermind, I found it in our local paper:

Quoting:PayCheck had been bedridden in a nursing home with emphysema and asthma. He died Tuesday.

It is truly sad...R.I.P. Johnny. :'(
