Subject: "Reality" Shows have hit the wall...

Written By: 80sRocked on 03/05/03 at 07:26 p.m.

According to the latest Neilson Ratings, the newest crop of "Realtiy" Shows have totally tanked in the ratings, and are continuing to fall.

Among those are ABC's "I'm a Celebrity, Get me Outta Here" and "Are You Hot?" which are both a total waste, and FOX's "Married by America" which requires no explanation.

As far as I'm concerned, good riddance to the crap aka "Reality" TV.

I know what you mean.  Hopefully this is the start of the "downfall" of "Reality" TV.  Some of them are nausiating, to say the least.  Its time for something new.  And thank goodness the ratings prove that.

Luckily, ratings are the fuel that keep TV networks running, and maybe, just maybe they will get the hint that we, the viewers, are not buying it anymore.   >:(

Besides, look at the basis of those shows and ask yourself: Is this based in reality?  ::) There is nothing realistic about any of them.

I totally agree Shaz.

Bring back the "no brainer" sitcoms & variety shows!  :D  And maybe even throw in a couple of low-budget made for TV movies!

I've watched the first one you mentioned, a couple of times (to give it a chance), and it was really, really boring.  I am hoping that it will soon be purged from the lineup so that they can bring in a decent show.

Was it Groucho Marx who said "The ultimate game show will end in the death of the loser"?

Unfortunately, I do not think they'll get a clue and these shows will continue to be made and broadcast.  :-/

I don't watch any of them. It is basically people trying to get their 15 minutes of fame. It only one that I think is even remotely entertianing is Blind Date and Judge Judy. All the others are not even worth my time.

I actually liked The Mole, not the celebrity one, the regular one. I guess I liked it because it wasn't trashy, it was just a game.

I'm happy to see shows like Married By America and that show where the parents get to choose which floosy their son or daughter will go out with are failing.

Do you think it's mostly females who watch these shows? I ask because my girlfriend watches all of them, and she watches them while talking on the phone with her friends who are also watching. All my friends say the same thing about their significant others.

I think Reality Shows will be out in the next year and a half. People have predicted the end of sitcoms alot of times only for them to come back. American Idol and Star Search need to go. Joe Millionare was the worst. I could care less about this guy. I was dissapointed when "King Pin" on NBC was given only 6 episodes. That was a cool show. I liked "Robbery Homicide Division" on CBS too and they canceled that. At least "The Agency" is still on.
