Who knows who's pulling Blair's strings?
It certainly isn't the people who elected him!

Siding with the Americans was never about military support, the British contingent would be negligible beside US forces and would probably only get in the way.  It's all about moral support.
Your question still stands though, why, after Rummy effectively told Blair he could scuttle back into a corner, is he still determined to betray his own people and go down in history as a war criminal?

Maybe time will tell?

Blair jumped the gun on this one, and now he's facing political ruin. Rumsfeld was offering him a way out, but the door's been boarded shut.

Thought you world-leader-bashers would get a kick out of this one ;)  How wonderful it must be to know that you won't get shot for dissin' the prime minister or the Prez, eh?

I feel bad for Tony, obviously he's taking a huge risk right now.

To start with, I was quite strongly against what Tony Blair was doing... but right now ISTM that he's the only reason there isn't war already, so he can't be all wrong.???

I guess Blair is doing the wrong thing for the right reasons (cf. the French who are doing the right thing for the wrong reasons, or George Bush who is doing the wrong thing for the wrong reasons)
