As am I, but I'm suprised.

..I mean I'm suprised she's still alive, not I'm suprised that I'm glad to hear...well, you get it, anyway...

An amazing and wonderful event that she was rescued.  Unfortunatley the rescue team also recovered 12 or so bodies too.  It will be very interesting to hear how the rescue was performed.

Great news about Jessica Lynch.

I hope that the other POW's are being treated humanely and released/rescued as quickly as possible.

Details emerge of W.Va. soldier’s capture and rescue

By Susan Schmidt and Vernon Loeb
THE WASHINGTON POST
April 3 —  Pfc. Jessica Lynch, rescued Tuesday from an Iraqi hospital, fought fiercely and shot several enemy soldiers after Iraqi forces ambushed the Army’s 507th Ordnance Maintenance Company, firing her weapon until she ran out of ammunition, U.S. officials said yesterday.
LYNCH, A 19-YEAR-OLD supply clerk, continued firing at the Iraqis even after she sustained multiple gunshot wounds and watched several other soldiers in her unit die around her in fighting March 23, one official said. The ambush took place after a 507th convoy, supporting the advancing 3rd Infantry Division, took a wrong turn near the southern city of Nasiriyah.

Not only did she put up a fight, she is more seriously injured than thought, she's now in a German hospital (at a US military installation in Ramstein) and both West Virginia University and Marshall University have each granted her a four-year scholarship to become a teacher, which is why she joined the Army in the first place, to get money to go to college to become a teacher!

Nor was she stabbed, either!  But she did lose feeling in her feet, but they straightened out her spine.  She did suffer broken bones and maybe her backbone was broken as well…
