This is news to you guys ?  Ha ha !  The pretentious prat (sorry SS and Shaz, and ye of similar ilk who may follow, for some strange reason I see him differently  ::) :P ;D) is building a private chapel in the yard of this huge estate he owns somewhere on the New South Wales coast.

The funny thing is apparently he forgot to seek planning permission, and now the local council is threatening him with taking it down.

Now this is what I call world news !  ::) ::)

Weren't they trying to get round that by saying it was a 'refurbishment' of a building that was already there??

You didn't offend me in anyway! :D  What I said up there was just my opinion.  I think Kid Rock is a hottie, but I am sure MANY people would disagree.  It's all good!  :P

Rusty's no better or worse than a lot of film stars. He just doesn't seem to care as much about showing how pretentious and arrogant he is.

Denzel was great in Training Day, and for the record I have heard more women say he's hot than I've heard then say that of Russel Crowe.  However Cube I have to ask Could Denzel have played that role?  Cause Crowe could have definately played his.
Autumn and I were watching A Beautiful Mind and after the scene when he shares his feelings with his future wife for the 1st time I stopped the DVD and had to comment on such awkward dialogue and how it was amazing it worked within the film.  The only scene I can compare it too was Tom Hanks in Castaway when he tosses "Wilson" his closest volleyball friend and it brings out shock and sadness in him and us so well, when it could have been very laughable if not done well.  Amazing thing is to that it was the same director for both flicks.

Well, no, unless he had Michael Jackson "disease"...John Nash was white...very white ;)  Denzel, of course, is not-so-white :D

I believe "Beautiful Mind" was directed by Ron Howard, but "Cast Away" was directed by Robert Zemeckis (who also directed Forrest Gump).

I like him I think he is a talented actor and an attractive person.  I wish him well, I hope he has a successful marriage unlike many in hollywood.

Regarding his attitude, I have never met him and most likely never will so I couldn't fairly judge a person by what I see in the media.  All I know is that I do enjoy his movies and looking forward to seeing more in the future.

Getting married? Good.

It was too bad he contributed to the end of Meg Ryan's marriage to Dennis Quaid (Was that 2001?).

I'll add for the heck of it:

Gladiator was a good movie, even If Russell Crowe mumbled through most of it.

Actually Hairspray I will have to stick up for Russ there.

In his own words - Dennis ruined his own marriage via alcohol, cocaine and affairs.  Meg moved out of the family home 4 months before she met Russell in the initial readings for Proof Of Life.  I know this from conversations with Den himself and not from 3rd 4th or 5th partys or "sources" oft quoted in magazines.

It was 1999/2000 that Russ and Meg were together.  They broke up just after New Years Eve in Jan01. (Time flies doesnt it - it doesnt feel like it was that long ago already !!).

As for Russ and his "little" wedding.  Well he and Danni have known each other for 15 years.  Like anyone our age they have had their share of relationships with people but they have always had a deep friendship that has lasted thru the years and its a big bond between them.  I am glad they finally got round to commiting to each other - whether it be with a wedding or any other way.

I had to laugh - I turned on the TV last week and saw my dad turning a TV crew away from Russ's gates.  My dad the big tv star !!!  So I rang him and he said he has been doing non stop security for Russ for the past two weeks.  (He has worked on and off for him for about 4 years whenever Russ is home in Coffs where dad lives).  Yesterday Dads job was to collect Ridley Scott from the airport and taking him and his wife to the guest lodgings.  I havent spoken to him today so I dont know who else has flown in.

The wedding has provided tonnes of local work for Coffs people - Russ has always supported the community he lives in.  Even my step mother is helping the florist with thousands of white orchids.

I will have to ring Dad on Tuesday and get all the goss before I read the bull oops news in the gossip mags !!

Thanks for the clarification, BrianMannixGirl.  :)

I'll add:

I just watched the movie "A Beautiful Mind" to see what all the fuss was about.

It really is a good movie. I was pleasantly surprised.  :)

No worries Hairspray !!  :)

I wouldnt say I am a "fan" of Russells.  Hmmmmm well - I like his music and I like his much older movies before hollywood "discovered" him, and I use to love seeing him on stage in the 80's.  I dont go out of my way to see each and every one of his movies.

I havent seen Beautiful Mind yet and it took me two years to get round to seeing Gladiator !!

I like Russ the person.  I love his "shove it up your a.s.s." attitude he has with fame.  He has been acting since he was 4 years old.  Its all he wants to do.  He never actually wanted to be famous and have people expect him to act a certain way - he just wants to act like himself.

He is well respected in and around Coffs because he always hires locals for any job he needs doing.  Coffs has many many celebs living up there and some tend to bring in Sydney or Brisbane builders etc.  Russ always hires locals.  He also donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the emergency services to update their equipment and he sponsors my dads wildlife rescue team.  He also sponsors the various local football/rugby teams and pays for the maintenance of the grounds etc.

The problem is all the tabloids feel the need to report on is the occassional punch up in a pub or yelling match somewhere.  Pick a guy between 30 and 40 and tell me they have never punched someone in a pub ??  The only reason Russ makes news fodder is cos he won a little gold statue.

Take a look at tabloids from Mel Gibsons career in the 80's.  Every week he was punching someone in a pub, having an affair, etc etc.

The tabloids would die of boredom if they didnt have a few occassionally drunk "aussie" movie stars to pick on !!!!!  :)
