Subject: J. Lo's new video

Written By: Anti_Pop_Superstar on 04/08/03 at 07:42 p.m.

I recently saw Jennifer Lopez's new video for "I'm Glad" (Don't Ask) that features a  homage to "Flashdance".  It actually turned out great instead of looking like a clip from "That 80's Show".
Despite that I'm not much of a fan of Jennifer Lopez.
The song was a bit mediocre, in my opinion.

I would like to hear reactions about her video.
Negative or positive.

BTW, she didn't butcher/sample a classic '80's song for this song. (I think)

Haven't seen it, and much like all her other videos, I will try to avoid it at all costs. ;D

If interested you can watch the new J. Lo video at http://launch.yahoo.com.
I just watched it and I'm not too impressed. Frankly, I didn't get why she would do it. Is she saying this is how I started too? She's a welder and a stripper? Just kidding. I guess that's what it was about....how she started I mean. The Cd is titled 'This is Me....Then' or something. Hummm?
I noticed a few neat dance moves and agree that it is better than I expected. But I didn't really care for it. The song was terrible...then again I haven't heard a lot from her that I think is worth listening too. A song here and there perhaps. I'm not her biggest fan but I'm not a JLo hater either. Just didn't care for the video.
Oh, and I guess I'm kinda getting sick of hearing about her, and her butt, her and Puffy, her and Ben, her and divorces, her and her clothes, her and whatever. She's in my face way to much suddenly.
Anyway, that's my http://www.rainbowbrite.net/ikonboard/emoticons/twocents.gif.

I did happen to see some of it and in my opinion all of her videos are the same anyway ???  She keeps doing the same thing over and over again, like she tries to be different everytime she makes a new vid, but it ends up looking the same or have similarties as the last one. And I'm sorry, but the whole wanna be 80s thing...it's really getting old. I mean, it's great that people love the 80s, I know I do, but please for videos, the novelty wore off eons ago.

I saw the video and well, call me trendy, tell me I have no taste, but I actually liked it.  Personally, I find Jennifer to be a very attractive woman and I only wish I had 1/4 of her dance moves.  Snark all you want to at her, she does have talent.  She may not be the best singer/songwriter, but any person that can make 3 movies in a year plus make a record & do a gazillion and one interviews for the media, has to have something going on. ::)

On top of all that, she still finds time to get married once a year.

I think the video was good, and she is a great talent. I don't understand why people always slag on her. She worked her way to the top, although I wish she would be a little pickier with the movies she decides to make (that movie Enough was terrible).

Oh,lol, don't get me wrong!  JLo is very talented, and everything, I never said she wasn't. It's just that most of her music vids look the same, and sometimes people get tired of that.     :)

Women are probably sick of her vids, but most of the men that I know personally, don't seem to mind!  ;D

This single's being released over here and the video is pretty good. In the current issue of Mizz (British teenage girls' magazine), there is a flashback page of when it first started in 1985. A picture of Flashdance is shown and beside it is a pic of Jennifer Lopez taken from her I'm Glad vid. There is a comment that says, "Wait a sec! J.Lo's I'm Glad video looks familiar..."

The video is a complete rip off of Flashdance. But it is intentionally done. She does look great in it I must admit - and this is coming from someone who doesn't always think that much of her. Flashdance sure was an awful film tho! I was so hyped up about watching it, and it was a real let down in the end!

That may be indicative of a work ethic befitting someone of her diva-esque stature, but it sure as hell doesn't equal talent.

Jennifer Lopez could be a great actress, if she would start acting in actual good movies instead of crappy star vehicles like "The Wedding Planner."  She hasn't been in a movie that showed any sign of inspiration since "The Cell," which oddly enough coincided with her rise to complete overexposed diva-dom.

Jennifer Lopez, the singer, is a big fat colossal dud.  She is absolutely terrible.  She is a talentless, weak-voiced, personality-free artist who sings insipid material.

While Jennifer Lopez is obviously a hot babe, the "I'm Glad" video is the first of hers I've seen that was actually sexy.
