Subject: NU METAL IS DEAD!

Written By: jj65 on 04/12/03 at 01:10 p.m.

one of the great things about the early 2000's, DEATH OF CRAPPY NU METAL!

nu metal residue will probably be around until 2004, but that's when it'll die for good, right now it's still hanging around by a thread

good riddance!

Great.  :D
Nu metal is just pure putrid month old sushi!!!
I think nu metal has already faded since I haven't heard anything new  from Shrimp Bizkut, Corn, & Linkin Puke on my local "alternative" radio station.  8)

Then why is Linkin Park still at the top of the album charts?  Why did Korn's last album debut at number two?  I think the true test of whether it's dead or not will be told when Limp Bizkit finally release that next album.  If it sinks without a trace, let the rejoicing begin, but don't get your hopes up yet.

I wouldn't classify Linkin Park as nu metal, they're more techno than anything, not the least bit "hardcore" or in your face.

as for korn, I checked the Billboard 100 and they're not even on the charts!!!

First of Linkin Park is not Techno, they are far from it I dont even know where you got that one.   Its true when Korn's new album came it, it sold like crazy, but since then it hasnt done anything.  The three songs they have put out have all basically flopped.  Linkin Park i think will do a little better than Korn has because of the fact, in my opnion, they put out one of the worst songs on their new album out first.  But then again who knows, just have to wait and see what happens.

Well I could care less if Nu Metal dies or not! But let me say this: Korn is the crappiest band of all time; their music is tasteless noise.  >:( I personally dont mind Linkin Park.

I remember seeing KoRn back in 1994, and thought they were great. They had their own distinct sound, they were original and their lyrics actually had some feeling to them.

I personally don't put KoRn in the same boat as Stinkin Park or LimpBizkit. Granted I think that the stuff KoRn has recently released bl*ws dog, but their first album stil gets regular play at my house.

Nu Metal 'tis dead...the 'nu metal' bands are either dying out or are evolving...

Personally, I don't believe Limp Bizkit is nu metal, nu metal is angst-ish, and Limp is not angst. Limp is laid-back rap-rock.

KoRn, unfortunately, is beginning to fade.

Linkin Park is creeping away from the nu metal label. There's an obvious change in Linkin Park's debut and newest albums. Their debut is much more heavier, while their new album is taken down a bit. Linkin Park could be considered "Alternative Rock/Metal" IMO, but not exactly nu metal.

Kenlos is right - Linkin Park's first single from their most recent album, "Somewhere I Belong", is not their best track...not saying it's bad...

Personally, I think Linkin Park is great - the lyrics any person could relate to. Most people who enjoy the music are flexible about their musical tastes, listen to a little bit of everything...which is why LP and other similar bands are often criticized, people automatically target it as garbage because it's not exclusively "their" music. I'm not saying that this applies to everybody, just a generalization.

Enough of my little rant. The End. ;D

Yes, I am a Linkin Park fan and yes, I do listen to just about anything. Thanks Junior for explaining it so well. :)

OK you guys, here's the real deal.
Limp Bizkit
Linkin Park
Korn
These bands are just like 90% of all the other bands that have started up throughout the history of the world.
Some people build a shrine and prostrate themselves in worship.
Other people would love to see Satan roasting them on a spit.
The chances of anyone spending any time at all thinking about these bands ten years from now(except those who built shrines) is next to nil.
But right now they're getting their fifteen minutes.
In general I hate Limp Bizkit. But I thought "My Way" and "Rearranged" were really good songs.
As far as Linkin Park goes I haven't heard anything off of their new album, but I liked "Hybrid Theory" a lot. There wasn't one song that I thought sucked.
Contrary to what others have posted I hated Korn's first CD. But I thought "Issues" was great. I loved it. Their new CD isn't nearly as good although it has a couple of good songs on it.

Now pay close attention here. The exact same thing I said about these bands you can say about 90% of all the bands since 1960.

I like Linkin Park, Korn's OK, and I used to like Limp Bizkit, but I don't care for them anymore.  I still don't think it's dying though.
I think it could use some more of what grunge, new wave, and heavy metal had though, where it ultimately defined the decade.

:oNu-metal is dead? Then why is my fave band...P.O.D. still around? By the way, they just released a new CD. The reason I like POD is because their songs have a positive, uplifting effect on me. But I also like older rock like the Beatles and the Who. God bless P.O.D. and all Christians. :-*
