Subject: now we're going to war with Syria?

seems like the Bush banana republic is CONVINCED Syria has WMD, they're harboring terrorists, baathists etc etc.

everybody from Rumsfeld to Wolfowitz to Cheney to Bush to Powell has warned Syria at least 3 times, even cautious conservatives like Eagleberger want to attack.

and why not, we're already there, we're still large amounts of combat troops pouring into Iraq despite the war being over....all we need to do is tell them to all turn west and ATTACK!!!

and the euro coalition of France/Germany/Russia will not stand for this at all, they will definitely get involved. Oh boy, we're gonna see German goose stepping in the streets again.... ::)

load up on guns, bring your friends

WW3, here we come!

Well, the Islamic Jihad apparently sent as many as 4,000 volunteers to Baghdad; how many of them died in the fighting and how many of them will die in suicide bombings is beyond my capabilities. I haven't heard any other specific reports.

In the meantime, Syria has a number of factors to consider:

- It probably did send some equipment to Iraq
- It knows it's somewhere on the hit list, anyway
- Why not declare now and try to split the enemy?
- How many nations will follow suit, and how many fronts will  the US have to engage?

As the story develops, of course, we'll get a better picture, but at least the Syrians declared before engaging. That would have pissed the Americans off if they'd announced themselves by blowing something up.

The Syrians have dropped all pretense, or, in a more respectful summary, have finally come to a conclusion, and openly declared their intention. Frankly, I don't expect them to shout, "April Fool's!"

We'll have to wait (not too long) to see what happens.

I saw today that a couple Coalition air fighter units (RAF Tornado F3's), a fleet of hospital ships, and 1 of 2 submarines (providing 25% of the Coaltion's Tomahawk missiles fired into Iraq) have been sent home as of Sunday, with more to come.

One would think that if we were planning an attack on Syria, as you have insinuated, I doubt we would be sending entire combat units home at this point.  After all, the Syria situation, ie harboring terrorists, assisting Baath fighters with suicide bombers, possibly holding onto Saddams WMD's, etc etc is not something that just came up in the last few days.

btw, nobody has said the war is over, as you did above.

perhaps its a tad bit early to be calling this WW3, especially considering a lot of it is based on speculation.  Don't ya think? ;)

Just as was said in the NK thread and paraphrased from Bush himself: different situations require a different response.

btw, we just captured Saddams half-brother (#5 on the Most Wanted list)while fleeing into Syria on Sunday.  Syria isn't off the hook quite yet. ;)

You do have to admit, they have some explaining to do. Hopefully they will cooperate.

Here we go again. If the US does invade Syria the same way it invated Iraq, to me, this is proof positive that this administration basically wants to "take over the world." Syria poses about the same threat to the US as Iraq did.

There are people who have bought into this administration's propaganda about Iraq so they can muster some support. If Iraq was such a threat to the US, how come it took less than month to overtake the capital? Where are those WMD they are suppose to have?

Bush and his cronies (or is that the other way around) are very dangerous. I know a lot of people have been either trying to deny that or they just don't want to see it.
