Funeral for lizzard believed to be son
Associated Press

BANGKOK, Thailand - A woman in central Thailand held a funeral for a monitor lizard believed to have been the reincarnation of her 12-year-old son, who died in a road accident nearly two years ago, a report said Monday.

Jamlong Taengnian, 53, and her relatives gathered at the family's house on the outskirts of Bangkok for the ceremony following the death of the reptile Saturday afternoon, The Nation newspaper reported.

A photo of Jamlong's deceased son, Charoen, was placed beside the reptile's lifeless body. "I am so sad. I feel as if I have lost my son a second time," Jamlong was quoted as saying.

Hundreds of people had visited the house in Nonthaburi, 10 kilometers (6.2 miles north of Bangkok) in recent years to see the lizard allegedly possessed by the dead boy's spirit and thought to bring good luck.

The lizard was first found lying under a photograph of Charoen during his funeral in June 2001 and reportedly followed the boy's parents to their home.

Jamlong named the lizard Yui, her son's nickname, and allowed it to sleep in her bed and gave the lizard milk and yoghurt, her son's favorite foods, reports said.

Monitor lizards, which have gray skin marked by yellowish scales, live near water and are good swimmers and tree climbers. They are not aggressive.

In her defense, the mother believes in things that most of us don't comprehend.

I wonder if that justifies me pointing and laughing at her then ;D  I know that if I were at the funeral it'd be VERY hard to keep a straight face ;D

Aside from the craziness of the story, why is she so dang upset? She believes in reincarnation, so from her point of view, wouldn't he simply be reincarnated again?

Funeral for geoduck believed to be ex-husband
Rain Soaked News Exclusive

SEATTLE, Washington - A woman in central Seattle held a funeral for a geoduck believed to have been the reincarnation of her ex-husband, who died in a trajic hook baiting accident two years ago, a report said Monday.

Gretta Johanson, 53, and her relatives gathered at the family's house on the outskirts of Seattle for the ceremony following the death of the geoduck Saturday afternoon, local authorities reported.

A photo of Gretta's ex-husband, Ole, was placed beside the geoducks lifeless body. "I am so sad. I feel as if I have lost my ex-husband a third time, and that geoduck is smelling up the house real awful" said Gretta holding her nose.

Hundreds of people had visited the house in seattle in recent years to see the geoduck allegedly possessed by the dead man's spirit and thought to bring good luck and a potential tasty chowder base.  Apparently the man, like the goeduck had little ambition and were not known to be attactive.

The geoduck was first found lying under a ruined and foul smelling photograph of Ole during his funeral in June 2001 and reportedly followed the man's relatives home by hitching a ride in one of the empty beer coolers in the back of their SUV.

Gretta named the geoduck "Gooey", her ex husbands pet name for her, and allowed it to sleep in her bed and gave the geoduck beer and peanuts, her ex-husbands favorite foods, reports said.  "It's not so bad if you change the plastice sheets often and don't let Gooey lay on top of the blankets, at least I knew which bed that cheatin' sumbit@h is sleeping in"  said Gretta.

Geoduck clams, which have large hard shell and gray/yellowish fatty tissues, live in water and and provide little benefit to their ecosystem.
