Subject: Indy Gent's Toenail Removed

Written By: Indy Gent on 04/17/03 at 02:33 p.m.

I didn't know whether to post this on PPP or 2000s, but I went to the Emergency Ward because my ingrown toenail infection had gotten worse after seeing the podiatrist (foot doctor). They had my whole right big toenail removed. It looked a lot worse than it was and it hurt quite a bit. Believe me, they could have amputated my toe or more if the infection spread to the rest of my extremities. I hope this is the last of my foot problems, other than the follow up appointment with said foot doctor.

Yikes!  I hope you feel better soon.

I had half my right big toenail cut out due to an ingrown toenail last year.  The cutting part wasn't bad but getting six shots in the toe to numb it sucked.  Now I use a heavy duty nail file to "cut" my toenails.

I had that done twice in my teen years.  The infection hurt like a mo-fo but the shots were not any fun either.  Get healed fast and do your best to keep them that way.

I've never had problems with my big toenails, but ever since I was little my little toenail has been gone.  It literally just fell off one night and never grew back.

I guess its not a problem, considering that was over 20 years ago. :)

But I will admit it was quite disturbing to wake up one morning and see my toe covered in blood and the toenail sitting on the bed instead of on my toe where it belonged.

Anyway, hope all works out for the best Indy Gent. :)

That's the way my big toe looked like when the paramedic removed the nail. He even showed my the bloodied nail and the ingrown part of it. And the two injections I got were about as painful as the ingrown, but at least it was brief.
Thanks for the hope 80srocked. I'll just have to soak my feet a little more, watch my blood sugars and take the prescribed medication as directed.:)

Heehee...www.sorry.com?

I ran over my left big toe a couple of years ago and it popped off about a week later.  Didn't really hurt that much, but I've got one ugly horn growing on my left foot now.

Hope you're feeling better, Indy  :D

Probably an older web page, because I got an error page. ;)

Sorry to hear about your accident Steve. Hope you are feeling better, and thanks everyone for the well wishes.

my best friend had an ingrown toenail two years ago and had to have part of it removed...of course, after it had mostly healed, her sister stomped on her foot while wearing boots and she had to have the toenail removed again! :P  i hope you recover soon, and don't let anyone step on your feet! :)

I had half of my toe nail removed. What really hurt was that needle they stick into it. I was supposed to get the other one done but that needle hurt so bad that I couldn't handle getting it done again. They told me that the part of the nail that they cut would never grow back again-yeah right. Now,whenever they bother me, I just cut along the edge-it sure beats that needle.  :-/  I hope you are feeling better Indy.

Thanks Catwoman. ;D
This is the second or third time I had to deal with an ingrown toenail. I have also had several hangnails on my fingers at certain times. And I don't think any of the doctors I had seen before yesterday removed all of the ingrown part, which may explain why I got reinfected. They say I should be okay after all the Keflex (the antibiotic I am taking) is gone and I can take the bandage off to soak my feet again.
