Subject: Television ~ Than & Now

Have you ever seen a rerun of an old TV show you used to enjoy when you were younger, but when watching it as an adult you thought how did I ever like it ? It happened with me when , after many, many, many years not seeing "Gomer Pyle USMC" and "The Adams Family" and than seeing an episode recently. Gomer seemed very stupid now, but was a lovable soul when I viewed as a kid.(But I will always love Frank Sutton ! :-* )The adams Family just appears purely evil to me today as opposed to silly and fascinating when I was a child.

As a kid they didn't seem evil to me , either, just as an adult. I thought The Munsters were very cool ! I think as an adult I like The Munsters better. We all wanted to look like "poor" cousin Marilyn, back than.  :D

That's happened to me with just about everything. I used to watch A LOT of t.v. Just about every show from the 60s on. Now, when I watch the reruns it is like, "What was I thinking?" I guess my taste got better with age. There are some shows that I still like to watch and still find very entertaining like M*A*S*H, WKRP, the Jefferson's, Night Court to just name a few.

I remember watching The Jeffersons and George always called people "honky".

That has happened with quite a few shows I watched as a kid. Batman, Adam 12, Emergency, Charlie's Angels... somehow they all lost a little something between childhood and adulthood.

It's funny if you called some person a honky today after watching The Jeffersons, they'd punch you in the face.  :D

I used to like "Lost in Space" and now its like, ugh, what in the world did I ever like about this junk. The same goes for "Get Smart". I still like to catch reruns of Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, The Munsters, Andy Griffith, Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, Leave it to Beaver. I could think of more that I liked then but wonder why I did now, but my brain is foggy at the moment.

When I was in Italy I saw Emergency dubbed into Italian and I LMAO!! It was sooooooooooo cheesy...and of course, the voices didn't match the mouths...I laughed SO hard!!

I used to love that show. Me and my friends would always get our bikes in my garage and then we'd be doing something and one of us would yell "errrr, oooorrrh, uhhhhhnnnhhh....Squad 51, Engine 51, accident on _____ Street. Need paramedics and firefighters STAT!" and we'd all hop on our bikes and ride to whatever street we mentioned and pretend we were the guys from Emergency!! I even carried a tackle box with an old phone in it so I could "call" Rampart General!! Hoooooooo Boy...those were the days...

I loved Emergency, esp. Johnny (Randolph Mantooth). If our local paramedics looked like him, I just may have to call 911,lol.
