Subject: First CD You Bought

We covered LPs and cassettes, so what's the first CD that you ever bought?  I think mine was The Spin Doctors' "Pocket Full of Kryptonite" which I bought last summer.

I bought Soundgarden "Superunknown" and Alice In Chains "Jar Of Flies" from my dad because Columbia House sent him those two and he didn't want them.

I didnt get my first CD till about 3 years ago.  Why I waited so long to start buying CDs I don't know.  But my first one was "Songs From An American Movie Vol. 1" by Everclear.

If memory serves, my first CD would've been A Decade of Steely Dan or perhaps Theatre of Pain - Motley Crue.

Oh, and if we're counting gifts, then the first CD I received was "WoW 2000" (a Christian music compilation).

I can't remember. I was thinking that it was either the Animals Greatest Hits or Paula Abdul but actually, I think it was a Mozart CD.

The first CD I ever got, bought, gift, or otherwise, is Alanis like I mentioned before.

The first CD that I recieved as a gift was Linkin Park "Hybrid Theory" and OutKast "Stankonia" (I got both at the same time - basically I chose out the CDs and my aunt payed for them).

The first CD that applies to none of the above ( ;D ) was Garth Brooks Double Live CD in the Big Apple.

Standing in line marking time
Waiting for the welfare dime
'Cause they cant buy a job
The man in the silk suit hurries by,
As he catches the poor old ladies' eyes
Just for fun he says "get a job"

Same here.  Hey, maybe it's because I didn't get a CD player until last year.  Why I waited so long to get a CD player I don't know...

CDs came out in '85 but didnt hit mass production till 87. I think that most people had a CD player by 88-89. I hope that helps PoP!

Thanks Arcfire!  With that said, I would have to say it was probably, "Appetite for Destruction" by Guns & Roses

Either The Offspring's "Americana" or -- yes -- Weird Al's "Running with Scissors."

The first CD I bought?  I bought 4 of them at once, in 1993 when I got my first CD player (I'm always late, did I mention that?).  Ready for the titles?  Brace yourselves:

Def Leppard - High 'N Dry
Def Leppard - Pyromania
Def Leppard - Hysteria
Def Leppard - Adrenalize

Like you expected otherwise?

My first CD purchase was one of those 10 for 3.99 deals through a club.  I don't remember all of them but quite a few were replacements for some of my 80's cassettes--Adam & The Ants, Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls and such like.

But I got impatient waiting for them to arrive, and went out to a Tower Records and picked up Andreas Vollenwieder's "White Winds" and "Caverna Magica" to listen to while I was waiting.

Hmm, first CD huh?  Geez, that means I gotta think..... :D

*stares at the screen and tries to concentrate*

Um....I'm ashamed to admit this, but I have a sinking feeling that the first CD I ever bought (well, that my lovely parents bought for me anyway) was a Girlfriend album (you know, that popstar kinda girl group around the early 90's - I think), can't remember the name, all I know is that it was purple  ;D :-

On my 10th birthday, I was given a Seventies compilation CD. When I was 12, I bought Step One, the first Steps album and a year after I bought Pure Shores by All Saints. I loved that song when I was that age and I still like it.

There were a few .... KISS: Alive!, KISS: Alive II, NWA: Straight Outta Compton, Stevie Wonder: Characters, Eazy-E: Easy Duz It and Fine Young Cannibals: The Raw and the Cooked. This was in '89, I think.
