Personally I just can't bring myself to like Coldplay. I don't really like artsy bands, and they've always come across to me as sort of crunchy. But I'm sure they're a really great band. :-/

I swear I thought I was listening to Bruce Hornsby & The Range.  They said it was Coldplay.  I couldn't tell the difference...ehh...

Their new song "Clocks" is really good.   8)

I absolutely love this band, both CD... but can't narrow it down to one fave track.
They remind me of early U2 sometimes... I have never considered them "artsy".  That would be like comparing Radiohead to Alan Parsons Project.
They are super live.  These guys are freakin' musicians!
I'm just happy to hear something with a melodic line in it and if that includes a little occasional piano... then so be it.  R&R Fan, I hope you enjoy the show!   :)

My cousin, Kyle HATES "Clocks". When he was scanning through radio stations almost every one was playing the song.

I have both Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head and I absolutely love both CD's.  There a  couple of songs that I skip over but I like everything else.  Couldn't pick just one as my favorite though.

HAHA!  I never thought of it that way!  But I can see how you would think that  ;D

I like Coldplay, I think they have a really unique sound & his voice is great.  And I hear that he & Gwyneth Paltrow are a ~HOT~ item  ;)

FOX uses them a lot, too-- at least 2 or three times in "John Doe" alone.  What I don't understand are the comparisons to Radiohead.  I think Coldplay is way more melodic than Radiohead, whom I definitely consider "artsy", even "progressive".  As a pianist, I'm afriad I can draw absolutely no comparisons to Bruce Hornsby.  That's okay, though.  We all have different ears.  8)

i don't know why, but piano in songs usually just bugs me.  not the actual song, just the piano line.  and not just coldplay - basically any song with a piano in it bothers me.  i have no idea where my intolerence of piano came from...

that popular song by them is stuck in my head...the piano line right in the middle...dunna-dunna-dunna-DUNNA-dunna...

I'll stick with Travis and Radiohead instead.

Me too! I just can't get into them at all, even though I'm a huge indie music fan. I dunno, it's just all to placid, similar and boring in my opinion!

I like Coldplay's song "Clocks", which is a very cool song, it'd have to be my fave of theirs that I've heard....but I haven't really heard much of their stuff  :D  I must say, I'm very over Yellow though...

Does that mean you don't like Delta Goodrem then?  ;D  Or "Piano Man"?  Hehe, were you thrown inside a grand piano or something when you were little and this is just your childhood fears/memories coming back to haunt you? LOL  ;D, just kidding, don't mind me  :)

LOL!

piano on its own doesn't bother me, but for some reason when you throw some piano in a song with other instruments, it gets on my nerves for some reason.  (that was redundant..)

Talk about resurrecting a thread!

I'm beginning to get tired of hearing the same three Coldplay songs repeated ad nauseum on the radio. And "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" by Jet. I loved that until I heard it once an hour. Now it's in a TV ad as well!  :-[
