Subject: Summer Movies You Are Anxious To See

Written By: Indy Gent on 05/31/03 at 01:43 p.m.

Based on the previews and reviews of this year's summer movies, which ones are you wanting to see the most? Some of them, like "X-Men 2", "Matrix Reloaded", and "Bruce Almighty" have already swarmed the theaters. Which one of these or any others are you going to see on the big screen? (No DVDs please.)

That "Nemo" (?) movie looks pretty cool as well as X-Men & The Matrix.  But you see, I have two very young kids, therefore I don't get to see movies in the theaters too much anymore.  I just buy them when they come out on DVD.  I have a Plasma TV, so if I sit real close to it & turn all the lights out & eat really fattening buttery popcorn & a box of Goobers, it ALMOST feels like I am in a theater.  ::)

Seen them :)

I will definitely go see "The Hulk".  I'm debating "The Italian Job" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle".  I like heist movies like "The Score" and "Ocean's Eleven" and I thought the first "Charlie's Angels" movie was cool stupid fun.

Later on in the summer I might see "Finding Nemo", "Terminator 3" and "Bad Boys 2".

Definitely Terminator 3!

This will "trilogise"(is that a word?) my favorite movie series(other than "Back to the Future" trilogy of course).

X-Men 2:  AWESOME

I've seen Matrix: Reloaded. It wasn't bad, but certainly didn't live up to the hype.

Others I want to see are T3 and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I have decided to take my (almost) 3 y.o. son to see "Finding Nemo" this weekend.  For those of you who have seen it, is it a long movie? Is it easy to follow?  Or is it geared toward older children?

Thanks :)

I took my 7-year-old and 2-year-old to see it this past weekend.  My 7-year-old enjoyed it, but my 2-year-old kept fidgeting on my lap and was only satisfied when I gave him candy!  ::)  I think he was a bit young to really understand the movie but he was watching it at times and even giggled once or twice!  ;D

As for me, I really didn't get to watch the movie.  :-/

Thank you CF.  And I know what you mean about not being able to watch the movie with the kids there.  I took both to see Shrek & by the time we left, I had no clue what the movie was about ::).

i was going to see "bruce almighty" (still wanna see it), but in a strange turn of events, i ended up seeing "the in-laws."  i thought it was funny (and ryan reynolds was a plus ;)), but i really have no idea what the plot was.  lol.

other than that, the only other movie i thought looked good is "finding nemo."  there seems to be a lot of sequals coming out this year, and i haven't seen any of the originals.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. They put a BIG smile on my face. Stick them in some hotty pirate costumes and oh baby, it doesn't get any better then that.  ;D

Bruce almighty-Died after the first 20 minutes, but was still kinda funny
XMEN2-Much better than the first, but storm is still a punk though

Stuff I wanna see:
The Hulk
Terminator 3
Charlie's Angels
Jason vs Freddy- deep down inside I know this movie is gonna suck but since I don't pay for tix, I don't mind sacrificing 2 hours of my life!

Seen:

The Matrix Reloaded - It was good. It takes seeing it more than one to really absorb it all. Also, this one was made mostly for the fans, as it relayed nothing from the first one.

Finding Nemo - Pixar is an amazing entity to create such cool, funny and astonishingly realistic animations and then have a good story as "the icing on the cake". Excellent film.

XMEN2 - Awesome!

Would Like To See & will wait for video:

The Terminator 3 - Definitely Looking Forward To It! Majorly Theatre Worthy.

Bruce Almighty - I don't feel it to be theatre worthy, as far as my paying an arm and a leg to see it there. I will wait until it comes out on video.

The Hulk - It looked too CGI in the previews. I just can't get into a non-cartoon movie where the main character is and (worse yet) looks completely and utterly computer generated. I think I like the older technique used in "The Incredible Hulk" series where make-up was used on a second person with Hulk Attributes. I may give it the time of day on video.

Charlie's Angels - Superficial, shallow fun. I will definitely wait to see this one on video.

Jason vs Freddy - If someone else rents this and brings it over, I may give it the time of day if I'm extremely bored. The last one where Jason was in the space was a sleeper and a half. "No-Doze" don't even have as good an effect! Zzzzz.....

Man, I just realized I do nothing but gripe and whine on the Internet.

Anyways, here are the upcoming summer flicks and the reasons I don't want to see them:

The Hulk
The CGI looks awful.  The Hulk in the previews remind me of Shrek.  Also, I heard an unedited version of the movie was leaked to the Internet and by all accounts is awful.

Charlie Angels:  Full Throttle
Sure, it's going to be mindless.  That's one of the selling points.  It gives every indication of being nothing but mindless T&A, however, and if want porn, I can get porn.  But what really turns me off from this movie is the fact that I can remember nothing - not a thing at all - from the first movie.  If the original was that unmemorable, I shudder to think what the sequel is like.

Legally Blonde 2
Dude, I only got dragged through the first one because one day all my friends at college were really bored, not to mention girls.  Given that I'm not going to go see this movie without female accompaniment, and that my girlfriend thought Reese Witherspoon was annoying in the first movie (just like I did), I think I'm going to pass on this one.

2 Fast 2 Furious
Paul Walker movie?  I don't think so.

Hollywood Homicide
Josh Hartnett movie?  I don't think so.  Harrison Ford will probably make it halfway decent, but that means it will be half crap too.

Pirates of the Caribbean
I have to admit the previews looked promising.  Until the female protagonist beats up a bad guy and goes "You want pain?  Try wearing a corset!"  If there are any more bad quips like that in the movie, you can count me out.

Tomb Raider 2
My no-standards cousin Zach took me to see the first Tomb Raider movie and even he didn't like it.  That's not a good sign.

Dumb and Dumberer
No Jim Carrey + No Jeff Daniels + No Farrelly Brothers = BAD, BAD MOVIE

American Wedding
What?  No Tara Reid?  How do they expect people to show up?  Side note:  Can't Jason Biggs find work somewhere else?

This doesn't leave me a whole lot to look forward to, let me tell ya.

'tis possible.  I think the CGI could have been better, but being an avid comic book fan this will be hard to refuse.  I'll probably try to see it opening weekend.  Maybe they could have shown a better Hulk, but the same could be said for Spider-Man (which also could have been better, but still entertained me) which had a similar quality of CGI but still grossed $400 mil +

I have the original on DVD.  Not totally sure why.  This does have the potential to totally bomb after the first weekend though.

I actually liked the first one.  I have no idea why they're having a sequel to it though, the idea seemed to have run out of steam by about 15 minutes towards the end of the original...plus it's opening against T3, which I will DEFINITELY see.

I think I'll pass on these...although Harrison Ford could use a hit now that he has to dote on his new squeeze ::)  (He could've done better)

First, the article:  Hulk SMASH!

Then, my opinion:

HULK SMASH!

The CGI was VERY good.  The Hulk looked very real and fluid.  The trailer didn't do the movie justice.

I have to say, though, that the pacing could have been better and the story was a bit boring, but whenever the Hulk came out and started rampaging, that was good fun :)

Sorry Rice I am going to have to agree with Kenny the movie was awful! the cast could have done alot better with another plot! I was dissapointed to say the least.
