Subject: Fantasy Baseball

Written By: Mike_Florio on 06/22/03 at 09:14 p.m.

anyone else play?

I play with my bro and his friends in their league at yahoo.com, and I had third place earlier in the season, but in mid may I got tremendouly screwed when my first round draft pick, Mike Piazza got injurred.  Since then Ive been barely getting by with Derek Jeter, my seccond round draft pick, but now it seems that he is injurred...and I only can win this if both of them are not injurred..l.

looks like I picked the wrong year to put Mike Piazza and Derek Jeter on the same team...

My fantasy baseball would have the Mets win a game or two. They made me so angry last night. They had the game. It was the top of the 9th and the score was 2-3. They just had to make three outs. Then Bonitez decided to walk in the tying run. The game went to the 11th inning then Floyd decided to walk in the go-ahead run. AHHHHHHGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??  Personally, I think they wanted to lose the game-and that is exactly what they did!  I also think that Bonitez is over-rated. I have always thought that. I heard rumors that there is talk about trading him. They should have done that two years ago when they traded most of the team-and then they ended up in LAST place! Again, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??

Sorry, Had to vent.

I hate the Mets also...mainly because Im a YAnkee fan...

I heard about the Benitez trade as well, but they're trying to get Sheffield for him, I think, and that will never work, no matter what!

You can trade him to the Expos, we'll give you Youppi and a bag of baseballs. :D

Edited: On second thought, we've decided to keep the baseballs.

My thoughts about winning a fantasy baseball leauge.

Leauges are won in the free agency pool. You have to pick studs up before other teams get them. If you picked up Dontrel Willis, then you have the best pitcher in the game and it did not cost you a pick. Sometimes you get lucky too when people over-react and drop good players. I picked up Beuhrle two weeks ago in my leauge and he will have a good second half.

As for the draft, it sounds like you drafted well, using picks for places where there is little depth. Piazza is the best catcher in the game. Hopefully he will be back for the playoffs to help your team. As for Jeter, I was never sold on him. If he gets on a hot streak, I would try and trade him for Garciappara.

my brother thinks that his team is cursed..wel let me just tell you something...EVERY player on my team has decided that this season is the season that they are going to go on the DL....half of my team is injured!  Including my first round draft pick RANDY JOHNSON!   I cant beleive it.....and the other starting pitchers (Tom Glavin and Woody Williams) arent doing so great in his absence....my team was destined to fail

Woody Williams is good. I think he will have an era in the top 5 (under 3 or very close to 3.0) and will win 16+ games. Glavin is having a harder time. I noticed that he goes from having a good year to bad year every season. Look at his numbers. His WHIP goes from 1.2 to 1.4 every other year, and back again. If I had Glavin, I would wait for 2 good starts then trade him.

How much did you win by. They add the wins and losses to the season totals, so if you only won by 7-6, then you probably would not move that much. Maybe the guy under you won by a larger margin, like 10-2 and they skipped up.
