Subject: Family Guy

Written By: John_Seminal on 06/27/03 at 11:02 p.m.

Has anyone seen this cartoon? It is on the Cartoon network at night (check your local listings). I have not seen anything this funny ever. It is like the Simpsons with an edge. They have an alcoholic dog, an evil-genius baby, a homer-like husband, and a dull child. I think the funniest moment was when the baby, late one night, crawled into the parents room becuase he was thirsty. Of course, the parents were busy doing it. The baby was shocked and horrified at what he saw. The next scene was the following morning with the baby sitting next to the dog. The dog senses the baby is not well and asks "you didn't see them, did you?" The horrified baby shakes his head up and down. The dog picks up a martini and says "You know the tub where they give you your little baths, they did it in there too". ROFL!

'Family Guy' is great. I watched it with my girlfriend and she said it was better than The Simpsons.

Me? I say that you can't have one without the other.  :)

Peter Griffin makes Homer look like a Rhodes Scholar  ;D ;D

Family Guy is one of the most irreverent shows on TV - it offends everybody!!!

The first two seasons are available on DVD now - I think I will have to pick it up.

Way better than the Simpsons.  I love those 80's flashbacks that Peter has!  :D  I would be hard pressed to mention which one was my favourite episode.

Most of the best lines go to Stewie. There should be more evil genius babies on TV.

I have heard that they will be comming out with season 3 on DVD with 3 episodes that were never broadcast because FOX thought it was too contriversial.

I like the Petoria episode. Peter starts his own country and goes to war with the US after he annexes his friend's pool. The best scene is when he invites despots from all over the world to have a pool party.

It's hilarious! I wish I knew when it was on! Must check local listings.

I thought the short scene of Osama Bin Laden walking thru airport security to be hilarious.  :D

..also the one where Stewie was a sperm and re-enacted the Star Wars Death Star trench scene, fertilized the egg and spent 9 months writing a diary about his "solitary confinement" in his mothers' womb.  ;D

;D I love Family Guy, i haven't been able to watch it since it left FOX(i forgot all about it). The baby is the funniest, especially how he's always trying to kill the mother.

It's nice to know that actual funny and edgy (and not in the marketing sense of "edgy" either) television can still be made.  Compare this to, say, the pre-packaged lameness of Will and Grace, or Dharma and Greg (a show that Family Guy's creators apparently hate).

What's also great is all the cross references of other shows they do:

Dharma and Greg
(Dharma is standing on a couch)
Greg (smiling vapidly):  Dharma, get down from there!
Dharma (smiling vapidly):  Nuh uh, goody!  Why don't you come up?
Greg (smiling vapidly):  You know what?  I think I will!
(Greg climbs up on the couch with Dharma.  They smile vapidly)

Entertainment Tonight
(A man is sitting at a table.  In the chair next to him is a pair of legs sticking out over the table.)
Man:  Hi, I'm Bob Goen and these are Mary Hart's legs.  Mary, you recently spent some time with Julia Roberts.
Legs:  (kicks the table twice)
Man:  Mary says yes.

Seinfeld
George:  So she was a tickler!
Jerry:  A tickler!
George:  And I'm not a stickler for that!
Jerry:  You're not a stickler for a tickler!
George:  Not a stickler for a tickler!
Both:  Stickler tickler stickler tickler stickler tickler stickler tickler stickler tickler stickler tickler...

Good Times
Junior:  Maxine is the lady that's feeling all right!  Thanks to the magic of Kid... (does a little dance)... Di-no-mite!!
James:  Junior where have you been?
Florida:  Oh forget him, James.  He's an idiot.
Junior:  Mama, what's wrong with you?
Florida:  What's wrong?  My name's Florida!  Florida, that's the name of a state!  Why is my name Florida? (sob)
(awkward pause)
Junior:  Di-no-mite!!

Dennis Miller Live
(Peter sits watching Dennis Miller)
Dennis Miller: I don't wanna go on a RANT here but America's foreign policy makes about as much sense as Beowolf having sex with Robert Fulton at the first Battle of Antietam. I mean, when a neo-conservative defenstrates it's like Raskalnakov filibuster dioxymonohydrostinate.
Peter: What the hell does RANT mean?

To add to Kenny's tv parodies on Family guy:

Eight is enough
(I wish I knew charactors names, but the father and one daughter are seated in living room)
father: wheres Junior?
daughter: hes upstairs crying
father: I guess I better go make him a sandwich
daughter: oh daddy, thats your answer to everything
(father gets up and starts hitting dauther, after a while, another daughter runs up)
otherdaughter: dad! dad!
father: what?
otherdaughter: eight is enough!
(all start laughing)

The dick van Dyke show
this was mainly just a play off of the starting where Dick would walk in and trip over the ottomin, but in the parody, he walked in, tripped over the ottomin, fell into the coffee table, fell onto the ironing board and the iron lands on his face, then stumbled into the kitchen, tripped on the wet floor, fell into the oven and got set on fire, reached for a drawr, and silverwear fell onto him, then he got back up to his feet and a car ramed into the wall hitting him...

The brady bunch
(shows the mother and father in kitchen with Cindy and Peter)
Cindy: mom, Peter smokes!
Peter: no I dont!
father: Peter I found cigerettes in your room, you know what your punishment is now, one hour in the snake pit!(flips random switch on wall, floor opens in an area, he throws Peter in)and now for you, Cindy, you shouldnt tattle, you know what that means, two hours in the choakie(forces her into a closet like thing)
(after this, the reaction of the family sitting on the couch was entirely shocked, I believe this was the first thing ever shown on the show, first scene of the first episode)

Crossfire
this was from the episode entitled "Petoria" where Peter breaks off from America and starts his own country, the parody fit in when correspondents from Atlanta, Boston, New York, and Washington where shown on a four way split screan voicing their opinion, something I thought was really funny then, a fifth box appeared in the dead center, an image of Alice from the Brady bunch, and it read on the bottom "and (whatever the actress's name was, I dont remember it) as Alice"

Family Guy is awesome!  I have some of the episodes on DVD, it's a four disc thing.  Way cool, no comercials.
