Whoah! :o Yes I am. I'll do you one even better -

My #1 reason -

1. The 2000s so far have been dull, still feels like the late 90's.

Well, I was just speaking in terms of pop-culture and personal to some extent.

In terms of politics, there are many differences now since the late 90's and I describe the political state of the 2000's, so far, as chaotic.

Do we agree 100% now?  ;)

Wellll, I'm not sure that "chaotic" is the right term, but I get your drift, and agree.  Things are changing, for the worst IMHO, and that could be seen as chaos.

I'm not much a follower of "pop culture", guess I'm just too old to get wrapped up in the latest fads and stuff, so on that level, whateeever. ;D

Well Britney Spears, N'SYNC, BSB and Christina Aguliera have lost considerable steam.  They are not at the level they were during that 1998 to early 2002 time.  I expect them to be completely yesterdays news pretty soon.

All these Late 90's stars are nearly done with.  Everyone else associated with the 90's should be gone too.  I mean X-Files are over with.  Seinfeld was cancelled 5 years ago.  Friends is done.  Grunge died out like 6 or 7 years ago.  The 90's and early 00's are nearly just as much ancient history as the 80's and 70's.

Though I disagree about Tom Cruise fading away.  Tom Cruise is VERY SMART, the guy knows how to stay mega popular in different types of movies as he gets older.  He has sustained popularity in the 80's, 90's and early 00's, and I expect him to continue to be around, much like Harrison Ford.

Justin Timberlake is having a pretty hot carreer right now, and so is Christina Aguliera. They've both had major hit singles this year, and it looks like they are definitely going to transition from teen idols to adult stars. So I disagree on that. But the other ones...yeah, they're gone. Brandy Norwood and Jennifer Love Hewitt are already has-beens of the late 90's.

The 2000's are definitely a chaotic time....one thing's for sure. Election Year '04 is definitely gonna be major...especially if the War on Terror and the economic slump aren't solved by that first Tuesday in November next year. 2003 feels like it's taking too long...bring on Election Year 2004!

I think it's odd that the late 90's have such bizzare staying power.

Back in 1993, the 80's were completely yesterday's news and totally old hat.  No one dared bring up the 80's.  Even in 1989 and 1990, the 80's had become old hat.  Sure there were left over fashions, but it wasn't anywhere near like now.

Here in the early 00's, the power of the late 90's is very much here and with us.  It's not just left over pop culture, or the pockets of people that don't want to let go of the late 90's.....it's a pop culture that is very much going on with a full force.  Some late 90's stars have died out, but it's still acceptable to talk about 1998.  No one would be caught dead acting like they were still in the 80's or talking about 1987 or 1988 back in 1992.

12. Osama bin Laden (or Saddam Hussein) is a creation of the United States

13. The winner of the 2003 World Series will be most likely a baseball team, do Cuba play? That would be cool.

14. If I could, I would help save the airline industry by getting rid of them garish designs on the fins of British Airways planes

The 2000's so far have been confusing and a little rocky. Spetember 11th for one. The war with Iraq, school shootings, the recession in the ecomony, CEO's commiting fraud in fortune 500 companies, Car Company's giving cars away(0% financing everywhere for basically every car company since Sept 11th.) It rained every day basically 2 months ago where I live. The 3 feet of snow we got earlier this year on the east coast.

My favorite part of the 2000's: haven't had a favorite part.

My least favorite part of the 2000's: Sept 11th( I was very mad about what happened.) TV reality shows and music that has no meaning. People suing Fast Food Chains.

The biggest new story of the 2000's: Enron and World Com.

The actor or actress that will break out in 2000's: Vin Deisel.

The musical artist that will break out in the 2000's: Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, and Evanesence.

The actor or actresses that fade in the 2000's: Jennifer Aniston. I don't think she is going to last after Friends.

The musical arists that will fade in the 2000's: Britney Spears, STP(If they already haven't faded), and Puff Daddy.

George Bush is doing a controversal job as president.

Bin Laden and Saddam are probably not even living.

The winner of the 2003 world series will be: don't know.

About the late 90's and 2000's stuff its basically like the late 70's/early 80's and late 80's/early 90's. I don't think things are the same as they were in 1997 even.

IndyGent - when you say 'Gehenna' are you referring to a specific (as far as i can see, Jewish) hell, or are you just being colourful?

STP are the early to mid 90's alternative rock group "Stone Temple Pilots". One of my favorite musical acts of the 90's.

I think Evanescence will continue, but return to the underground.

This is interesting. She's the only one who's had any real success outside the show

There's always an underground, but perhaps I should have said they will go underground. Their drummer's a pretty busy guy (A Perfect Circle, several other bands), so they may not even last beyond this album.

I dunno. I can't remember who, but i had a conversation in real life with someone - mostly joking - about the idea of underground boybands. Where there are these unsigned good-looking lads that go around 'boyband clubs' singing to teens etc. and then they'd also have white-label records...and some of them would have a punk-style DIY ethic and moan about how other boybands like 5ive have 'sold-out' and watered-down their sound (made it less sickly-sweet)...well anyway, i'm rambling again. :P
