Subject: I want a NEW SITCOM!

Written By: DizzleJ on 07/03/03 at 10:48 p.m.

Remember how great Sienfeld, Friends, and Home Improvement were. They all contributed to Pop culture. Sienfeld gave us Yadda Yadda Yadda. Friends Gave us the Rachel haircut. Home Improvement gave us masculine grunts (O.K. , so maybe not Home Improvement)
Anyway my point is these were all great sitcoms of the 90s.
Now that were in the Two-Thow, we have.. Reality T.V.?!!?
I want a new sitcom that I will look forward too, every Thursday night, or whenever! Does anybody agree with me on this? That T.V. is lacking any great sitcoms??!!

Frankly, I haven't seen a funny sitcom in sooo many years.  I suspect most of you don't remember Jackie Gleason and the Honeymooners - now that was funny, although politically incorrect for today.

I don't consider M*A*S*H a sitcom - the subjects were too serious and often brough tears to my eyes - but it was, I think, the best series ever on TV.

Reality tv & awful sitcoms are the reasons why I stick to reruns ("Larry Sanders Show", "Seinfeld", "Married the Children", and "Fresh Prince") and some dramas.

Sitcoms now are unwatchable & dumb.

The only good shows, in my opinion, are animated programs like "Gary the Rat", "Home Movies", and "South Park".

Even some classic sitcoms are also better than most of today's trash.
I'm better off watching a suburban witch or perky surfer girl than some cloying kids singing or 7 strangers bickering.
Though I can't stand most classic tv shows.
And some from the 80's ("Cosby Show", "Growing Pains") & 90's ("Friends", "Dharma & Greg").

I know the Honeymooners...that was another hillarious show.....

MASH was a funny show until Henry Blake left...after that it stoped being a real sitcom...give me the Henry Blake days anyday and Ill laugh my posterior off.....

and I completely forgot about South Park,,,thats a good show

I get your drift.  With Henry and Frank Burns it was closer to a sitcom.  With Potter and Winchester it took on a different aura, which I think, is why it survived as long as it did.  What I like most about the shoe is the way Hot Lips evolved from a charactature into a person.

I stick to the reruns, too, and frankly, I'm getting tired of it. The reruns are good, but I agree that there should be a new sitcom on TV. Something both thought-provoking and funny as heck, like I thought Home Improvement was.

yeah, exactly...while I agree that MASH evolved to probably being a better show in its later years, their early stuff is the only ones I really watch

I feel that watching this show makes me feel gay...I dont know why...theres just an unmascolinity that comes with it, something about the only two male charactors being queer, I guess...

I have to agree with that...the show really lost it when Blake left...

There is a new season of monk.  It is an hour, so it may not qualify, but it is cleaver and funny.  USA has had a lot of decent programs recently.  I even consider them the fourth network.

I like the show 'Becker' which stars Ted Danson (the man from Cheers). He plays a cynical doctor who lives on his own. It really is a great show for people who are willing to give it a chance.

As for Frasier, I really like it. It is very clever!
