Subject: Cigars

Written By: Hoeveel on 07/08/03 at 11:45 a.m.

My family just came back from Cuba.

Amongst other things, they brought some cigars back with them. I thought i'd try one, just to see what all the fuss was about, cos i'll try most things once.

Well, my dad had said you get a bit light-headed from them -but that might be because he's never smoked anything in his life. I started off puffing it and then i tried actually inhaling, nothing happened.

I spose the main reason people are sposed to smoke cigars is for the 'flavour', but it just tasted slightly different to cigarettes; no better, no worse.

All in all, it just seems about as pointless as cigarette-smoking. Plus, i've seen people smoke cigarettes in minutes or less, and i was puffing for about quarter of an hour and it was roughly the same length - i gave up after that, cos it seemed like a waste of time.

Oh well.

Anyone else smoke or at least tried cigars? Is it for the flavour or what? :-/

I occasionally smoke cigars, and especially like the Cubans.  They are very flavorful (to me) and very smooth.  Puerto Rican cigars are almost as good (my Grandmother use to smoke them).  There are also cigars that are flavored, like with rum, or cinnomon etc.  I guess though that if you were disappointed, that's to the good (Fidel gave them up some years ago)  ;D

One is not supposed to inhale cigars, though I'm not sure why.

Anyone?

P.S. I have puffed a cigar and I didn't see the big deal. The taste was nice, a smokey-sweet cherry flavor. Perhaps it is just a symbol of status.

Yeah, i know. I was just thinking from the point of view of getting a 'headrush' or whatever. It might just be because they are 'strong' compared to cigarettes :-/

I have taken a couple of puffs on cigars from time to time. They don't do anything for me.
