Subject: Another Dog Euthanitized Today

Written By: Indy Gent on 07/08/03 at 09:34 p.m.

Some sad news: the black stray dog my sister found 3 years ago had to be put down today. He was not responding to the medication and IV my sister gave him. Plus he never did regain his appetite for regular dog food. And my sister could not afford more medical bills. Of all the dogs she had over the years, maybe that one was my favorite. She only has the one German Shepherd left, and he may also be on his last legs. Please remember her in prayers. :'(

Aww...that's sad!  :'(  I know it's tough to do that, but sometimes we have to because it's the most humane thing to do.  I mean why have an animal suffer?

I know how hard it is to make the decision to end a dogs life. I'm sure she knows she did all she could.

I believe she did do all she could to save that dog, just like the other ones that had to be euthanitized. Still, it doesn't make it easier to part. Everyone has been so supportive here, and I thank God that there is deep understanding.

That is very sad! I can share the sentiments! I've had to have beloved pets euthanized in the past! Sometimes, that is the final gift of kindness we can give them!

Peace,Vivian

thats weird because yesterday when I went to this AFRS we were talking about doggies who have miracles because this shelter rescues animals on their last legs and they get better again. But just think that her doggy is up in heaven right now running around playing with other doggies...thats how I like to think to get past animal deaths...to know they arnt suffering anymore

The dog that died yesterday was only, I'd say, no more than 4 years old. My sister found him when he was only a puppy, hence the name Puddy. I wish there was something else that could have been done. But unlike humans, pets can't have donors. We don't put a lot of stock in non-kill animal shelters, Alicia, because they are still way too expensive and it's just not worth the time and trouble. I believe my sister did the right thing, even for a dog of Puddy's age. :(

I am so sorry Indy. I know it is always a tough decision to make. I had to make the same decision with a 15 year old cat. (That was about 6 years ago and I still mourn for that cat :'() Please know that you and your sister are in my thoughts.

I am sorry to hear that Indy...often we love our dogs as much as our kids...

It's funny, I have a dog named Puddy too, and I know when he goes I will cry like a baby.
