Subject: Senator Jerry Springer?

Written By: 80sRocked on 07/15/03 at 10:45 p.m.

Yikes. :o

He has every right to run, as does anyone, but seriously, who can really take him seriously now?  The so-called "King of Smut", "King of Trash-TV", etc etc, will make a fool of himself if he does this.  IMO.

I'm not saying celebrities shouldn't be able to run for office, after all its been done with positive results before, but Jerry Springer?  Cummon. ::)

hehe yea really. :D

But seriously, you proved my point:  Everyone will automatically associate him with the trash on his show, therefore not taking him seriously.

Thats wonderful.  However I doubt either of those teachers were the host of the trashiest show in modern history and nicknamed "The King of Smut".

I believe that Jerry was elected mayor of Cincinati after he got caught in that scandel that he paid a hooker with a check....but anywaym he's got name recognition, and it doesnt matter if thats good or bad recognition, it is recognition....remember it doesnt matter what you used to do as long as people know you....Minnisotta elected Jesse Ventura as their governor, Carmel California elected Clint Eastwood as Mayor, Palm Springs elected Sony Bono as senator, and the State of california and the nation fo the USA elected an actor as governor and president respectivly.   anyway, I dont like Jerry Springer, I dont like his show, i think it lacks morals and is complete garbage...I dont agree with his politics at all, or anything about him, but I have to say, he has a chance, because of name recognition.....

and with that, i give you the next govenor of California, Arnold Swartzenager....

Springer doesn't pretend that what he presents isn't trash. I think that shows some integrity. And that's important.

I want you all to step back and think to yourself, Which is a more reprehensible, disgusting trash heap of humanity:  Congress or the Jerry Springer Show?

LMAO Too funny.

I know that he was the mayor of Cinncinati but personally I don't think he has a prayer to get elected to Congress (At least I HOPE he doesn't have a prayer). The thing is, you know there will be some who will vote for him.

So if Jerry gets to be Senator, can he use some political muscle to get Steve the bodyguard a job in the Secret Service?  ;)

He was president at one point in Demolition Man.  I think they wrote - was it the 43rd Ammendment? So he, being Austrian born, could become president.  I thought that was cool.

You know, I no longer think that is so far fetched.

On topic:

Springer is an opportunist and if elected, he will exploit what he can and can't. It may be good news to some, probably not for most within his reach. Hmm.. That may actually work in favor of the common folk.

There is no way springer will even win a primary, let alone get elected.

I remember a few years ago, CBS Chicago hired him as a political commentator for the evening news. The whole on the air news staff at CBS Chicago quit in protest along with many off the air staff. Many people stopped watching the CBS news. It was a disaster.

The reason Jerry stays on TV is because young kids who do not know any better watch him in amazment. It is like a freak show or circus. And since most of these kids are middle class with money, the advertisers know they can sell them products. It is all sick. We will have kids who are desensitized to all the midget marries uncle and has kids with 6 fingers but only one eye. I guess it is like an accident on the side of the road, everyone slows down to take a look, and after they see the blood and gore, they wish they didn't look.

There's no tellin'. With the way things are nowadays, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he were elected.

Good God, have we come to this?  The founders must be rolling over in their graves.  In their nievite they envisioned a government of self efacing, altruistic (rich) men who wanted to serve the public good, not a bunch of self serving pigs gourging themselves at the public trough.  How disappointed they must be.  How sad for a noble experiment.  How disasterous for us "just plain folk".  When will "we, the people" redeem their hope?

I have to give some credit to Jesse.  I was watching C-span and caught two gubnertorail debates.  It was '98 and highly partisan politics, the right was preaching school vouchers and the left was completly against, etc.  Jesse spoke common sensce non-partisan stands and he presented them well.  That and Minnesota had same day voter registrastion so a bunch of stupid punks signed on and voted for him as well. (yes, name recognition and a "he isn't gonna win anyway" attitude worked in his favor)  I'm sure the citizens of Minnesota had learned there lesson by now.
Oh yeah, I hope that slime slinger springer doesn't win too.
