Subject: Cell-Phone Camera saves teenager from kidnapping..

Written By: 80sRocked on 08/03/03 at 03:29 p.m.

Have any of you seen this on the news yet?  Its this kid who was being followed by this older man trying to get him to go with him in his car, and the kid snapped a few pictures of the man, his car, and license plate and turned them into the police.  The man was arrested.  All because of the new cell-phone cams.

Pretty remarkable article:

Some guys have actually been arrested for being pervs and using those cameras to capture images of women and their body parts.  I believe it's illegal to take pictures of people without their consent.

I read a story a while back of a guy that was using that little cell phone camera on a beach to take pics of chicks.  He was busted by the beach patrol for being a pervert.  I didn't know that you could actually get into some serious trouble for that.

I remember when I first heard about the new cell-phone cams I thought about all the pervs using it for their advantage.  And I'm sure they have.

But in this case where it saved a teenager from being kidnapped and put away a real perv in jail, I am all for the cell-phone cams.  One less perv on the street.

Actually, I don't think it's illegal to take pics of someone without their consent, but it's illegal to reproduce or profit from them.  Otherwise, all of us could be arrested for snapping a pic of a loved one, etc in a crowd.
