Actually the game is called rugby league, not rugby. Rugby is different. :)

Oh my God this has to be one of the most bizarre things I've ever read.
He did this, and only got a suspention? Doesn't that border on some kind of assault or something? One would think so anyway.

Actually, I think you'll find that was the original incident (more than a year ago?) The date at the top of the article is the current date, not the original publication date.

I don't remember the first incident involving three guys. And he struck out in a tackle to get a bloke off him.

Put it this way - I checked the schedule and Wests have only played the Cowboys once this year - back in May. Somehow I don't recall that incident only taking place 4 months ago.
Edit: could be wrong, though - I haven't been paying much attention since Murdoch got his paws on it...

No I think you're right. I just don't remember the incident occuring in that fashion, that's all. :)
