Subject: People Talk As If They Were There

in a posting listed by RockandRollFan he/she totally exploited my friends and my town on this forum talking as if he lived around the block from us...for those of you that dont know what im talking about...i live in a small(not privaledged) town called Harrison, in New York...my senior year of high school(2002) we lost one of the best kids you'll ever meet...one day school was let out early because of a power outage...everyone gathered at a house which was a regular for parties and began drinking early in the afternoon.  Suddenly words were thrown between 2 boys at the party and thats when the tragedy began...Rob made a comment, Pat threw a punch...Rob then struck his head and was unconsious...the kids paniced in total distruct...the host of the partys brother(John) demanded rob be bought off his property and that no one was to call "911"...so they did what was next best...they carried Rob to the car and bought him to the hospital for medical attention...he later underwent surgery to release the pressure from his brain and remained in  coma for a week and then was taken off life support and died 5 hours later...Rob was my bestfriend ever and it was horrible what happened to him but to call Pat a criminal for punching him is redundant...if someone was mocking bad things about your father im sure you would be mad too...and as for his friends who didnt call "911" that u all claim arent really friends...half of them were 15, 16 and 17 years old atleast they didnt leave him there, they had enough sense to get him to the hospital...the real criminal here is the one(John) that demanded he be bought of his property and his parents bestfriend westcheser DA Jeanine Piero who did nothing about the incident...yea u can say teens shouldnt be drinking and ur right we shouldnt but dont judge us considering half of you have done it too...this was a freak accident, no one knew this was gonna happen, Rob was loved by all and forever he will be in our hearts and prayers...ROB VISCOME 5-8-84~4-30-02 :'(

Sorry to hear about your loss.  This further illustrates the dangers of under-age drinking.

But I am lost as to your reference to RRF. ???

Pat will probably go to jail for manslaughter. There is no reason to hit another human being in the head, and then not call 911. As for the alcohol, they should lock up the parents. What a waste, to have someone die so young.  >:(

Modified to add: Kids will drink, but that is no excuse for what you do while you are drunk. The responsibility is the same. Man, I hate reading about someone doing something this dumb. What a way to ruin a day. Not to mention, I feel sorry for Rob's parents.

i thank you all for your replys and sympothy as to pat's charges everything was dropped because the westchester DA is bestfriends with the parents who owned the home where the party was held...he only got a year probabtion which he violated about 2 weeks ago because he was caught drinking in a local club...it seems like this story will be on tv for years because not only is that now publizied but also the judge that gave pat one year probation is now selling His home...so now theres rumors that pat wasn't charged seriously because the judge is selling pat's parent's home...i just feel that it this is way to publizied...theres under-age drinking going on in every town in every state...i just want my friend to rest in peace...now rob's parents are sueing 15 of the party-goers, the parents that own the home and the people who sold him the beer, this could go on for months or even years now, everyday its on NBC, ABC, and the local news station, as well as every newspaper article and a 10-page article in the June 2003 issue, they plain on turning it into an eisode on Law and Order as well...if there are any teens reading this...take this as a learning advantage, DO NOT DRINK...ONE OF UR FRIENDS MIGHT END UP LIKE MINE DEAD OR SUED!

My condolences as well. It's been quite a while since I was a teenager but I can still relate. The saying "There but for the grace of God, go I" comes to mind. You're right, this could've happened at any teen party in any town in any decade in America. The difference now is that there is so much mass media to sensationalize the story and seems that everyone wants to take their grief and turn it into revenge.
