Subject: New cartoons for kids or un-kids

Written By: bj26 on 09/03/03 at 07:07 a.m.

Hay everyone, write down your favorites and tell a little bit about 'em.  Ever seen the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy or Invader Zim?  Ha ha they are hilarious, none of the kids are afraid of the Grim Reaper, and he always gets busted up.  Zim was so evil, what insane minds came up with these new cartoons!

The only cartoon i've ever enjoyed, and it's an old one, was Dangermouse. I reckon that was really written for adults!

Being off work this week, I have managed to catch what passes for Kids TV these days...Invader Zim is actually on the schedules at the moment...I have seen it...very bizarre!

Dangermouse was okay in its own strange way...being terribly English, I don't think it could've really travelled that well...I could be wrong though...

My own favourite was Speilberg's 'Animaniacs', which managed to squeeze in so many in-jokes per episode, it would make your head spin...were these actually aimed at children? Who cares...kept me quiet!

I have seen 'The grim adventures of Billy and Mandy'. It is pretty funny.

I liked the twisted humour of 'Cow and Chicken'. Boy was it twisted - I was surprised it was labelled as 'kids entertainment'. 'The Red Guy' seemed incredibly perverted!

'Johnny Bravo' is a classic as well. So adult in attitude.

ha ha hah, this is a great response, the "Red Guy" is a pervert, gfaw!  It's funny for me to watch my kids watch these cartoons, I like Justice League too, it's crazy.  Anyone ever seen that "Evil" brain thing who lives in a glass jar on top of that bear's head?  I sound nutz just talking about it ;D

;D This is a pretty good topic. Man, I love cartoons. I don't think getting older should restrict you from enjoying cartoons. Remember when Disney and Looney Toons came out they were mainly for Adults.
Anyway, I really like the current batch of cartoons. Foxbox has lots of interesting shows. Cartoon Network is of course classic stuff. I saw this one show called GS Gundam or something like that. It has this really cool animation style. You should check it out on toonami. Also Dragonball, Dragonball Z are great shows. Dragonball is Hilarious. One of the characters asks a talking pig, "Do you like Bacon?" and the pig freaks all out. It is hilarious. Spongebob is very funny. I actually am not a fan of the so called Adult cartoons. Such as Stripperella or Gary the rat. I find them way too distasteful and not really that funny. Looney toons are always good. Today's cartoons are a lot more "Bathroom Humored" with lots of fart jokes and butt or poop jokes. Very funny stuff. Like in Cow and Chicken you can see the devil's butt.

Side Note: I am probably never going to "Grow Up" in the traditional sense. I still like Trick or Treating. Not neccesarily taking candy, but the whole thing is still tons of fun. I am always going to listen to modern music and wear modern clothes, as opposed to just wearing polo shirts all the time. My hairstyle will always change as well. ;D 8)

i thought "invader zim" was cancelled?  i haven't seen it on tv in a long time...it's a shame, that was one of the few cartoons i actually found funny. :(

Invader Zim is already the greatest cartoon of the 00's. It's just too bad it was terribly underappreciated.

anyways, im gonna sing the Doom Song now!

Doom Doom Doom Doom Doom Doom Doom Doom Doom!

I really enjoy The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Grim is always Juxtopositioning his awsome power as the Grim Reaper with a goofy child-like attitude towards things like his dog, Lucky.

Billy is a great idiot character, and his best friend, Irwin is just as good.

I couldn't stop laughing when they spoofed Harry Potter (whose lightning bolt scar was in the shape of an "L")

I'm sure they're all good but my boys went on a trip recently and wanted only to borrow my tapes of Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry cartoons!

I hate Jerry!!  He's always picking a fight with Tom, and so Tom always looks like the bad guy, but it's really the mouse's fault, what does he expect?

I know. It's pretty bad, but the greatest cartoon injustice has to be the trials and tribulations of the Trix Rabbit. Why won't those *bleep*ing kids let the rabbit have some Trix? I was always rooting for him to get some Trix. It was much more painful to watch than any Tom and Jerry cartoon. (There were a couple of episodes where either Tom won or he teamed up with Jerry.)

I remember coming home from school everyday and watching Rugrats at 4pm, followed by Doug at 4:30pm.  In my opinion, those are my favourite kid cartoons.  However, when they came out with that different and newer version of Doug, I hated it.

I agree, South Park it great...where do the writers get their ideas for those episodes? lol.

An un-kid is a person who likes stuff like Southpark, lessee, an "un-kid" is an adult, and an "un-adult" is a kid, make sense ???  Anyone ever seen "Evil Con Carne?" that's the evil brain in the jar on top of the bear's head.  Look, I'm not crazy, I have seen this cartoon, hey, what are you doing!? take that straightjacket off me...helllllllp!!!

Anybody see Billy and Mandy Friday night?  Missed it cause I was on a date, would rather have seen the show.  Something about Grim (reaper) put 2 pool balls in his eye sockets, like the 1 and 3 ball trying to dress like a body builder??  What happened?
