Subject: Warren Zevon Dies Of Lung Cancer

Written By: Indy Gent on 09/08/03 at 07:00 p.m.

In what has been a tramatic Monday, (Indiana's governor Frank O'Bannon suffering a cerebral hemmorhage this morning), singer/songwriter Warren Zevon dies of the terminal cancer he was afflicted with. Best know for his hits "Excitable Boy" and "Werewolves of London", Zevon was diagnosed with the cancer last year and was given three months to live. Luckily for us, he lived long enough to cut his final album. He was 56, and will be sorely missed. :'(

In a sense it is a very sad thing, but in another sense he was also very lucky; few people get the chance to prepare for their exit from this world and cement their legacy like Warren did.  RIP.

I posted my tribute to him in the PPP board where I posted the lyrics to "Werewolves in London" (I figured more people would know that than "Poor Pityfull me" or "Excitable boy").....It's a sad day...he was a great singer-songwriter......he will be missed

Again I'll say it: terrible news...

Most of my family are big Zevon fans, and to see one of our favourite singers snatched away... it just doesn't seem right, somehow.

Not surprising, but terrible news nonetheless...

I would like to imagine he kept that unique brand of humour of his right up to the very end...(and I'm sure he did...)

What a loss...

:( :(Well put!He said he like to put a lot of death and violence in his songs, which some people thought was morbid but probably made him more at ease with the thought of leaving this world for the next.Cheers!

Zevon was a very influential musician; he could write a song about death and give it a catchy beat! I will never forget classics like Werewolves of London and Johhny Strikes Up the Band. And his final album is flawless. He will be missed.  :'(  :'(   :'(
