Subject: Hip Hop Wannabes

Im sick of all these kids dressing up and trying to act like they from the ghetto when they are not.Be true to your self and people will respect you more because when I see you I just laugh at you for being phony. The white and asian kids crack me up the most because they put on these phony accents and they only do it to look like they are bad boys when they are just scared.I'll say this applies to blacks and hispanics too because if they dont act "ghetto"than they get harassed for acting "white"Im not generalizing all of them but some of them just do it for the attention and girls are dumb enough to fall for their phoniness.Believe me most of the wannabes are just scared punks.

Heh heh! It happens in Britain as well. It seems that if you're not down with 50 cents (It's your birthday - tut!) or Sean Paul (who sounds like he is just tripping over his words) then you have no credibility at all.

Never mind, heh?  ;)

what's really funny is when you find out that one of these "mutha#$@!@# ganstas" is actually in marching band.  (that wasn't meant to offend the bandos, it's just funny seeing a "ghetto" kid playing the tuba...) :D

I don't really fault anyone for dressing "ghetto."  It's just fashion.

I can deal with the baggy clothes and the hat on sideways but when they put on the phony ghetto accent and slang I gotta crack up.

Yeah, it is kind of silly, but I think most of he time, they're just kids going through a phase.  When you're 12, 13, 14 whatever years old, you often don't really know who you are and you're trying to figure it out, and maybe you have to do a few things that other people think are silly in order to do that.  How can you be who you really are if you don't really know who you are?  Sometimes it's hard to figure out.  There's so many things you could be, and you're going through a lot of changes, trying to establish an identity separate from your parents...It kind of bugs me when people give kids crap about stuff like that.  As long as they're staying out of trouble, who cares if they talk with weird accents or wear weird clothes?

I agree, when these kids are in their early 20's they'll find an idenity for themselves. After all you are not going to be the same person you were at age 15 that you are at say ages 20 or 21. Even when you are in high school there is pressure to "fit in". As for a black person not acting black enough I have never seen a black person act "real ghetto". Most of the black people I have met are very soft spoken people. I went through that whole ghetto phase that teenagers are going through now back 5-6 years ago. My parents said I acted "black" or "ghetto" as you on these boards. When you are in your early 20's and working a job acting "ghetto" doesn't cut it anymore. If I acted like I did 5-6 years ago now people would look at me very strangely I think.
